We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Credit / Risk Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Credit Risk Dept. adheres to policies and procedures presented in the Credit Policy Manual.
  • Ensuring that credit facilities approved are permitted in compliance with the terms of sanction and with current Bank Credit Policy.
  • Ensuring that existing credit lines are monitored to identify problematic accounts that require remedial.
  • Recommending classification for loans & advances according to Bank Credit guidelines and coordinating required provisioning for all identified problematic accounts.
  • Submitting periodic reports regarding the status of the loan portfolio to the Managing Director.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures that reduce credit risk for the Bank.
  • Managing the building of financial models that predict credit risk exposure to the organization.
  • Overseeing the preparation of performance reports for management.
  • To reduce delinquency rate by dealing with thriving sectors and business segments.
  • To increase profitability by growing quality Credit Portfolio.
  • To perform periodic monitoring and analyses of portfolio performance
  • Conduct periodic field visits and develop prepare impact report.
  • Analysis and appraisal of credit requests in accordance with the credit policy.
  • Monitor the strict adherence to credit related regulations
  • Preparation and rendition of credit risk reports.
  • Design and review credit policy manual for relevance and update them from time to time.
  • Ensures proper documentation of credits by adhering to set documentation standards and procedures
  • Define credit approval framework and recommend credit approval limits in line with bank policy.
  • Encourage the development of products, which will drive the Credit activities of the bank.
  • Analysis and appraisal of Individual credit requests in accordance with approved policies and procedures to ensure that credit exposures are created subject to stipulated guidelines (fulfilling conditions for disbursement or deferrals obtained)
  • Monitor the strict adherence to credit related regulations (Single obligor limits, aggregate large exposures etc.)
  • Timely review and approval/rejection of credit requests
  • Perform reviews for renewals/assessment of existing facilities performance and other credit related requests.
  • Monitor the attainment of approved standards on credit portfolio management.
  • Value addition to credit requests: Identifying critical risks in credit requests and providing alternative routes by restructuring the request to make it viable
  • Preparation and rendition of all credit risk reports as requested by management.
  • Identification of knowledge gap and skill need within the unit and communicating to Human Resources unit
  • Liaising with the finance manager to calculate the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and making recommendations to executive management and the Board of Directors.
  • Any other activity as may be assigned by the Head of Credit.

Requirement and Skill

  • BSc in Banking and Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Credit Risk Officer, Loan Officer or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with lending procedures and products
  • Ability to create and process financial spreadsheets.
  • Ability to identify risk at any transaction.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Analytical skills and thorough attention to detail.
  • The ability to listen and negotiate with customers.
  • Customer service experience.
