Job Title: Tally Assistant

Job Purpose

  • To tally commodities and assist in stacking and physical inventory activities to maximise accuracy and efficiency of commodity management.

Key Accountabilities  (Not all-inclusive)

  • Tally receipt/dispatch of commodities including transformation of commodities during internal milling operations, identify and report to the supervisor any anomalies, to support accurate and effective commodity management in the warehouse.
  • Implement and maintain accurate stacking and assist in conducting periodic physical inventory checks following the established guidelines and standards, to support compliance with internal control procedures and systems.
  • Prepare accurate tally reports including efficient preparation and distribution of tally sheets to relevant parties, to ensure consistent and prompt accountability for commodity movement from/to and storage in the warehouse.
  • Supervise the warehouse cleaning after loading/unloading and reconstitution exercises, to ensure WFP warehouse meets the established standards.

Standard Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Completion of secondary school education.

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in conducting basic logistics activities (tallying).

Language: 

  • Fluency (level C) in English language. Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri local languages is desirable.

Job Title: Supply Chain Officer

Job Purpose

  • To contribute to daily planning and coordination of WFP end-to-end supply chain operations including monitoring of services provided by contracted external organizations to ensure cost-effective operations and that set objectives are achieved in full.

Key Accountabilities  (Not all-inclusive)

  • Contribute towards the development of supply chain end-to-end plans and processes ensuring  compliance with wider WFP policies and standards.
  • Support or manage supply chain projects and operational activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective procurement and delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Collect and analyse data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to senior staff to improve performance of local supply chain end-to-end operations.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to senior staff to optimise use of available funds.
  • Contribute to supply chain by providing technical support and guidance to other units/services, particularly for emergency response.
  • Work in close collaboration with internal counterparts and external partners including suppliers, superintendents, companies, etc to align procurement activities with wider programmes and ensure a coherent approach to meeting food assistance needs.

Other Specific Job Requirements

  • Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries. 
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries (e.g. through the design and review of training materials).
  • Identify and build productive relationships with supply chain colleagues and staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach to food assistance.
  • Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices, participate in preparation of CO Logistics Capacity Assessment (LCA), to ensure WFP are able to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
  • Participate in the on-going review of internal processes and procedures and identify ways to increase the day-to-day efficiencies.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.

Standard Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience is required in the following: commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors; monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends; dealing with shipments and clearing imports/exports with customs officials; coordinating procurement and transportation processes with other units/ teams; experience with procurement activities (purchasing, vendor research, etc.); warehouse and commodity management; conducting cost analyses;

Language: 

  • Fluency (level C) in English language. Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri local languages is desirable.

Job Title: Vulnerability and Mapping Officer

Job Purpose

  • To contribute to the VAM evidence base that supports food security and nutrition policies and programmes (e.g. needs assessment and situation analyses, programme design, targeting, cost effectiveness, and operational efficiency).

  • Contribute to the development of VAM projects and activities, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider WFP policies and guidance.
  • Support the development of systems and tools for the monitoring and assessment of food assistance needs in line with innovative methodologies and best practice.
  • Support the development of food security and vulnerability analysis and the preparation of timely reports on food assessment needs in line with wider VAM policies, processes and guidance to enable effective decision-making on the development of country strategy, policies and programmes.
  • Provide assistance on the coordination of data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  • Liaise with implementing partners (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency and highlight potential risks to project delivery.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to conduct vulnerability analysis to effectively inform preparedness and response activities.
  • Provide support to relevant partners that are focusing on food security and nutrition issues to enable sharing of experience, lessons learned and best practice.

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience is required in the following:
    • Use of several statistical tools and methods for food security analysis.
    • Food security analysis and mapping by participating in multiple assessments in countries, including the design, data collection and analysis.
    • Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of WFP vulnerability mapping systems and emergency assessment standards is desirable for entry into the role.

Language:

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience is required in:
    • Taking leadership in implementing programmes.
    • Providing input into policy discussions and decisions.
  • Has deepened technical knowledge through exposure to technical teams.
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.

Language: 

  • Fluency (level C) in English language. Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri local languages is desirable.
