The aggrieved placard carrying youths decried the rigorous process they had been made to go through over claims that their names were not properly matched or that they had no acceptable BVN numbers.

Spokesperson of the aggrieved beneficiaries, Suleiman Olatunji, while addressing reporters disclosed that those affected had undertaken manual correction of the alleged error in their registration at least thrice without any positive development.

According to Olatunji, “Some of us did physical verification at the Governor’s Office; NOA still there was no positive presence. They were always saying there was one mistake or the other and for about four times now we have been doing correction.

“N-Power asked some of us to send our phone numbers and they still said no verification. Yet when we went to the local government where the verification was done, we were told there was no problem.”

Reacting to the protest, the State Focal Person for the programme, Elder Ayobolu Samuel said the affected beneficiaries had been told why they could not be paid their allowances.

Samuel urged the affected beneficiaries to go to the right quarters to rectify the anomaly.
