We are looking for suitable qualified candidates for it’s Food Security Program (In-Kind Distribution):
Job Title: Distribution Field Officer
Location: Maiduguri with frequent travel in Borno
Under the direct supervision of: Distribution Supervisor
Overal Mission
General Objective:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Sensitization
    Supervisor, the Food Security Officer (FS officer) is responsible for
    the qualitative, quantitative and timely implementation of the Food
    Security activities.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Implementation and monitoring of the Food Security activities:
  • S/He implement the daily food security activities according to
    the schedule such as beneficiaries identification and registration,
    distribution, sensitization, post-distribution monitoring…
  • Respect the planning and set-up of the activities
  • S/He collects any relevant information from the communities and partners
  • Participate to all assessments for the projects or for new projects
  • Analyze the humanitarian situation, taking protection problems into consideration/Do no Harm to the population.
Community Mobilization:
  • Ensure that beneficiaries and local populations understand the project goals and agree with the implementation process
  • Actively participate to the good collaboration with local leaders
  • Act as a liaison with the local population and authorities in
    order to identify the needs, grievances and major events that could have
    potential consequences for PUI activity
  • S/He ensures the proper training and supervision of the community’s volunteers who take part in the project
  • Organize sensitizations for the beneficiaries or community’s members according to the identified needs
  • Monitor the work of community volunteers under its responsibility
Reporting:
  • Report to the FS Supervisor on the progress of activities and
    specific tasks assigned, problems encountered, the quality of relations
    with beneficiaries.
  • Collect, enter and analyse the necessary data according to the need of the project
  • Extract and pass on statistics to the team supervisor, deputy project manager and/or program manager
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Language skills: Fluent in English, Hausa and Kanuri,
  • Knowledge of other local language is an asset
  • Computer Skills: Very good in Excel and Word
  • Qualification: Diploma or NCE
  • Work experience: 6 months experience in an international or local NGO is an asset
  • Experience in a similar position is an asset

Job Title: Distribution Deputy Project Manager
Location:

Under the direct supervision of: Food Security Program Manager In-Kind Distribution
Overall Mission
General objective:
  • Under the direct supervision of the Food Security Program
    Manager In-Kind Distribution, the Distribution Deputy Project Manager is
    responsible for the daily management and the daily implementation of
    the in-kind distribution and nutrition projects in Borno State.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Activity Supervision:
  • S/He will second the Food Security Program Manager in the
    designing and the implementation of the distribution and nutrition
    activities.
  • S/He will organize, schedule and coordinate the distribution and nutrition activities and the team’s work on a weekly basis.
  • S/He will supervise the field work of partners or/and contractors and make sure they agree and respect PUI principles.
  • S/He will monitor closely the implementation of activities at
    field level with site visits on a regular basis and provide support when
    needed.
  • S/He will ensure the timely implementation of the project(s).
  • S/He will report about the work progress to the Program Manager on a regular (daily/weekly) basis or when needed.
  • S/He will actively take part in the monitoring of the results achievements and indicators as indicated in the logical framework.
  • S/He will be responsible for the field communication and good
    collaboration between PUI, the communities and the local leaders
    regarding the implementation of the activities.
  • S/He will ensure that all project(s) documents are correctly filled and archived.
  • S/He will actively contribute to the security analysis and
    ensure that all measures have been taken and rules followed to ensure
    security on-site.
  • S/He will contribute to the improvement of activities through monitoring, analysis and suggestions.
  • S/He will participate in the needs assessments in collaboration
    with the Assessment Team and/or Program Manager to develop other
    projects and participates in the concept notes and proposal writing.
Team Supervision:
  • S/He will participate to the recruitment of Supervisors and
    Officers or any other position that could be recruited on his/her team.
  • S/He will oversee the Distribution and Nutrition Supervisors and
    the Distribution and Nutrition Field Officers through regular
    coordination meetings, formal reporting, weekly briefings and
    debriefings.
  • S/He will make sure every member of the team clearly understand
    his/her task and has the necessary material to correctly fulfil his/her
    objectives.
  • S/He will inform his/her direct manager and reach out to him for advice in any case of conflict within its team.
  • S/He will inform his/her direct manager of all needs expressed by his/her team.
  • S/He will inform his/her direct manager in case a staff from his/her team falls into corruption or disrespect any security rule.
  • S/He will be in charge of the HR administrative management of
    his/her team (daily attendance, leaves,…) in collaboration with the HR
    department.
  • S/He will ensure that her/his operational team complies with PU internal rules (disciplinary management when needed).
  • S/he will ensure, in collaboration with his/her direct manager, a
    regular evaluation process for her/his operational team with definition
    and follow-up of clear objectives.
  • S/He will support her/his team in building their capacities (Day
    to day sharing of knowledge and experience, organization of training
    sessions for the Supervisors and Field Officers, development of any
    pedagogical and methodological tools adapted to the local context…)
  • S/He will implement and follow up internal safety and security
    rules/protocols for her/his team and transmits all safety and security
    information to his/her direct manager.
Communication And Reporting:
  • S/He will participate in the different working groups and meetings related to her/his field of work.
  • S/He will ensure representation of PUI (with her/his team, at
    field level) among partners, donors and different authorities for the
    areas which s/he is responsible for.
  • S/He will provide weekly and monthly internal reporting on activities according to PUI internal tools.
  • S/He will report immediately problems or other relevant information to the Program Manager.
Logistics And Administration:
  • S/He will list the materials and tools needed regarding the program and the planning of interventions.
  • S/He will ensure the follow-up and the proper use of materials and tools used during on-site works.
  • S/He will manage the supply of materials to the work site in collaboration with logistics department, through PUI forms.
  • S/He will analyse the security situation in the area and inform
    the Program Manager in case of security incidents, rumours or any
    security information.
  • S/He will be responsible for the producing of official documents
    (bills, signed contract with daily workers,…) and hand them over to
    his/her direct manager.
  • S/He may take part in the financial follow-up of the project with the Program Manager.
  • S/He may contribute to the management of the cash forecast of the project in link with the Program Manager.
Required Skills
Mandatory requirements:
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, Hausa and Kanuri. Knowledge of others local languages is an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient user of MS office (including Word,
    Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Knowledge of any software for statistics is
    an asset.
  • Education Degree: University Degree or HND in relevant field
    (Agro-economy, Natural Resource Management, Nutrition, Anthropology…).
Work Experience:
  • 2-year experience in a similar position is required.
  • Previous experience in team management is required.
  • Previous experience in an international NGO is an asset.
  • Previous experience in food distribution is an asset.
  • Previous experience in Humanitarian assessment, monitoring and evaluation is an asset.

Job Title: Nutrition Sensitization Field Officer
Location: 
Maiduguri
General Objective
  • Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Sensitization
    Supervisor, the Nutrition Sensitization Officer will help organize and
    undertake nutrition and hygiene education activities at community level.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Activity Implementation:
  • S/He will train the community’s volunteers identified within the frame of the project.
  • S/he will lead any nutrition-related demonstration during food
    distributions and may participate to the distribution itself when done.
  • S/he will analyse the humanitarian situation, taking protection problems into consideration/Do no Harm to the population.
  • S/he will lead sensitizations sessions for the beneficiaries or community members if planned and in liaison with the supervisor.
  • S/he will respect at any time and without exception, all the
    security rules imposed by his/her hierarchy and will not put his/her
    colleagues in danger.
  • S/he may conduct household surveys and/or individual follow-ups.
  • S/He may take part in the post distribution monitoring activities.
Collaboration in the Communities:
  • S/he will help nurture good collaboration between PUI and local community leaders.
  • S/he will act as a liaison with the local population and
    authorities in order to identify the needs, grievances and major events
    that could have potential consequences for PUI activities.
  • S/he will help to ensure that beneficiaries and local
    populations both understand the project goals and actively participate
    in their implementation.
  • S/he will be a key link in passing information from
    beneficiaries to PUI managers and may participate in the implementation
    of a complaint mechanism for beneficiaries.
Communication and Reporting:
  • S/he will undertake data collection and timely report
    compilation and submission.S/he will pass on any information or problems
    to his/her direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning his/her task,
    PUI programs, or safety aspects.
  • S/he will address any issues on the field with the beneficiaries
    or the community members/volunteers and tell his/her direct manager.
  • S/he will represent PUI at anytime and anywhere when s/he is in duty.
  • S/he will daily report to the Nutrition Sensitization Supervisor
    on the progress of activities and specific tasks assigned, problems
    encountered, quality of relations with beneficiaries and suggestion to
    improve the project implementation (via data, pictures, informations)
  • S/he may participate in assesments if required by the supervisor.
Logistics and Administration:
  • S/he will contribute to logistical and administrative organization of the activities.
  • S/he will contribute to the definition of the needs in materials
    and tools regarding the program and the planning of interventions.
  • S/he will ensure the safety and good condition of all material provided by PUI.
Mandatory Requirements
  • A Degree in a Health/Nutrition related discipline or certificate of secondary education
  • At least 3 year relevant experience.
  • At least 6 months experience in Young Child Nutrition.
  • Previous experience in community mobilizing or community nutrition programs is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the MOH and traditional administrative systems and structure is required.
  • Previous experience with NGO is an asset.
  • Previous experience in Humanitarian assessment, monitoring and evaluation is an asset.
  • Fluent in English, Hausa and Kanuri. Knowledge of other local language is an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Good user of Word. Being able to use Excel is an asset.
