About the Programme

• The Centre for Safety Education (CSE) is the result of the collaboration between the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, (FUPRE) and The Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
• The Centre presently offers National Diploma (ND), Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programmes and Certificate Courses in Safety Training and Education with a view to provide highly Industry-driven Safety Professionals for the Oil and Gas  Industry and other relevant disciplines.

Aim/Objectives

• The Centre aims to provide graduates with excellent broad-based training required as experts in Health, Environment, Safety, & Security Management in Petroleum, Power, Chemical, Transport and Allied Industries.

Available Programmes
Admissions are available into the following Programmes for Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma (Full time and Part-time) Programmes:

• Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (HESS) as well as
• Short courses for Companies in: Industrial Safety, Health and Security, Basic Water Survival, QA/QC, H2S, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) & Gas Testing, Confined Space Entry Advance Fire Fighting, First Aid & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Environmental Waste  Management, Environmental Audit, Forklift and Crane operations, Safe Rigging & Lifting and Safe handling of Chemicals (SHOC)/SDS.

1.) Diploma Programme

Admission Requirements

• Candidates must possess 5 credits O’ Level passes including English Language and Mathematics.

Programme Duration:

• The programme duration for the diploma (full time) programme is for 9 months.

Structure of the Programme:

• The programme is based on the semester system.
• The programme shall involve field practical experience and individual project work, followed by the submission of a Thesis for evaluation.

Award of Certificate:

• Successful candidates shall be awarded a Diploma Certificate at the end of the programme.

2.) Full-time Postgraduate Diploma Programme

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the full time Postgraduate Diploma programme, must be holders of the following qualifications:

• B.A/B.Sc or HND in Safety from any recognized institution or
• Higher National Diploma (HND) with General HSE and HSE Level 3 Certificate in Safety.
• Candidate without HSE certificate can also apply.

Programme Duration

• The programme duration is for a period of twelve (12) months.

Structure of the Programme:

• The programme is structured based on the semester system and shall involve field practical experience and individual project work, followed by the submission of a Thesis for evaluation.

Award of Certificate:

• Successful candidate shall be awarded Certificate at the end of the programme.

Admission into Master Degree Programme:

• Successful candidates at the end of the programme can use the certificate to gain admission into Master’s Degree Programme.

3.) Part-time Postgraduate Diploma Programme

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the part-time Postgraduate Diploma programme, must be holders of the following qualifications:

• BA/B.Sc or HND in Safety from any recognized Institution or Higher National Diploma (HND) with General HSE and HSE Level 3 Certificate in Safety.
• Candidate without HSE certificate can also apply.

Programme Duration

• The programme duration is for a period of eighteen (18) months.

Structure of the Programme

• The programme is structured based on the semester system and shall involve field practical experience and individual project work, followed by the submission of a Thesis for evaluation.

Award of Certificate

• Successful candidate shall be awarded Certificate at the end of the programme.

Admission into Master’s Degree Programme:

• Successful candidates at the end of the programme can use the certificate to gain admission into Master Degree Programme.
