Job Title: Product Marketing Manager, Grow with Google

Job Description
  • As a Marketing Lead, you will have a deep understanding of the African ecosystem and understand the challenges with digitalization. As a driver for economic impact, you have an entrepreneurial mindset and are passionate about providing business and talents with digital skills.
  • You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires you to be open and adaptable to new information and/or set-ups. The scope of your role means you work with many different cross-functional teams, from lawyers to creative agencies. In this role, you will develop local partnerships and co-marketing opportunities.
  • You will also help shape the go-to-market plan for several strategies.
  • As a Marketing manager, you are a fully dedicated business leader, shaping the future of one of our many Google products. Whether you’re on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (AdWords, AdSense, DoubleClick, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product’s journey.
  • From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the voice of the product and help it grow a loyal consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you’ll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end.

Minimum qualifications:
  • BA/BSc degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building marketing programs and business operations.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.
Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA degree.
  • Integrated marketing experience and proven experience in conceptualizing events.
  • Knowledgeable about educational content and Google business and consumer products.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Ability to develop new strategic approaches to marketing challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills; comfortable presenting to a senior audience and building relationships internally and externally.

  • Develop strategies, innovation and thought leadership to advance digital transformation for the region.
  • Identify and manage key partners and drive alignment with the team responsible for brand and new audiences.
  • Measure effectiveness and channels consistently to improve ROI of marketing programs.
  • Lead a team of contract employees, vendors as well as external agencies.

Job Title: Technical Program Manager, Google Station, Network Deployment
Job Description
  • Google’s projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily.
  • As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle.
  • This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You’re equally at home explaining your team’s analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
  • Google Station is an exciting initiative under the umbrella of the Next Billion Users group within Google, aimed at enabling internet connectivity for individuals who have poor or no access to the internet worldwide.
  • The Google Station team is deploying Google networking services in partnership with local ISPs to deliver high-quality access. Services supported by Google Station will serve as a reference point for public WiFi access in developed and developing markets.
  • As a Technical Program Manager in Lagos, you’ll manage the coordination of Google Station and partner resources to bring multiple products and markets to fruition on time, with a high level of quality.
  • This will be achieved through the design and implementation of scalable, repeatable process and project tracking. You will interface with partnership and business development, engineering and operations, product management, other Technical Program Managers within Google Station and external vendors.

  • Work with core teams to develop and articulate tactical plans and long term strategy for Google Station deployments. Initiate new programs in response to business needs.
  • Manage various programs of work while engaging internal and external teams in order to set the pace for development, deployment and delivery of networking systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop and prepare project documentation, process maps, presentations and tracking reports to provide detailed current status of each project.
  • Use your technical judgment to manage project delivery and technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.
  • Analyze quantitative execution and system performance data and translate into recommendations and actionable plans, interpreting technical and commercial information from structured and unstructured sources.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical/quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in a Project Management role, aligning multiple groups around a single objective.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with internet networking technologies (switching, routing, TCP, security) and deployments.
  • Experience with enterprise or carrier Wi-Fi or IP network deployment projects.
  • Experience in the management of complex projects.
  • Experience in Wi-Fi deployment, optimization and maintenance in municipal or enterprise environment including multiple access points per site.
  • Comfortability with operating in a fast-paced, changing work environment with the ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks, manage time efficiently and navigate ambiguity.
