Job Title: Logistics Technical Assistant

Job Summary

  • NRC is looking for a Logistics Technical Assistant for our field office in Biu, Borno State in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the Logistics Technical Assistant is to support programme activities in Biu, Borno State
  • NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja
  • NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Education in order to address identified humanitarian needs.
  • The Logistics Technical Assistant reports to the Field Office Coordinator.

Job Description

  • Plan, schedule and monitor transport of staff and material/equipment according to demands and procedures
  • Ensure that NRC generators in Biu are maintained on regular basis and prepare requisitions for spare parts for vehicles & Generators
  • Responsible for the receipt, storage and dispatch of all assets from the Biu Office ensuring that proper documentation is maintained for same.
  • Ensure that assets are tagged and all asset movement is tracked in the Asset Register
  • Assist the Logistics Officer with Physical Asset count, preparing of Logistics and documents as may be required.
  • Be responsible for procurement’s within the location
  • Ensure all drivers adhere to NRC logistics and drivers’ procedures
  • Compile and submit monthly vehicle utilization and carpool reports
  • Secure that NRC vehicles are equipped with necessary documents and equipment
  • Ensure that all vehicle records and reports including logbooks, accident report etc are filled appropriately.
  • Keep log of the generators and ensure that fuel consumption is monitored and recorded appropriately

Qualifications

  • University Degree in related field
  • Knowledge of the local market
  • Knowledge of local language (Hausa, Babur)
  • Previous (1 year) experience working in a Logistics department (preferably NGO)
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • High level competence in computer skills (Microsoft office Applications)

Job Summary

  • NRC is looking for an Education Officer for our Area Office in Maiduguri, Borno State – Nigeria. The purpose of the Education Officer is to Implement NRC Education programme in line with NRC’s Education strategy.

Job Descriptions

  • The Education Officer reports to the Education Coordinator
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tool, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
  • Implement the Education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
  • Prepare periodic status reports and other documents as required by management
  • Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
  • Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
  • Identify and document key protection issues among beneficiaries (both Direct and indirect beneficiaries)
  • Together with the Protection and Advocacy team facilitate capacity building initiatives for Education staff on protection mainstreaming
  • Lead in organizing and facilitating trainings programmes in psychosocial support, life skills, content and pedagogy.
  • Lead the Education emergency team in developing training programmes for teachers and Parent Teachers Association including follow-up and support.
  • Participate in cluster trainings by offering technical skills and knowledge when required in consultation with the project coordinator.
  • Develop and execute teacher support programme at school level together with Ministry of Education officials
  • Supervision of Education assistants under your responsibility

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar positions
  • Education degree or similar field
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience
  • Experience in Teachers’ training
  • Experience in budget management
  • Experience working with community at grass root level
  • Experience working in Ministry of Education system is preferred
  • Documented results related to position
  • Knowledge of local languages is an advantage
  • High level English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
