Job Description

  • We are seeking a new team member to join the Reboot programs team in Nigeria. This person will be a key member of our team, helping lead and manage a range of projects that are centered on using civic tech to bring together media, civil society, communities, and government to advance social justice. The portfolio of work will consist primarily of open government programs, focused on utilizing user-centered design and ethnographic research.

You are equally comfortable meeting government officials in the capital or chatting with patients at a rural health clinic. You are enterprising and have the chops to become a star all on your own, but you value being part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • This is a full-time position based in our Abuja, Nigeria office, with the expectation of significant travel during project periods.

Responsibilities
Project Work (90%):

  • Support programmatic research, design, and documentation processes, from start to finish, across various Reboot projects, collaborating with diverse subject matter experts and internal/external teams.
  • Support implementation and testing of adjustments to program design, managing timelines, communications, and field logistics.
  • Participate in research and editorial processes to understand, capture, and communicate user, stakeholder, and client needs, and work with team members, client, partners, and users to turn research insights into effective, appropriate design solutions.
  • Help clients and partners understand Reboot’s design research approach, and lead discussions on project scope, methodology, and outputs
  • Support key relationships with clients and partners through proactive communications and the successful execution of projects, always with a strong focus on optimizing the client experience.
  • Coordinate work across team members and consultants to ensure outputs are of consistently high quality and are delivered on-time and within budget
  • Support technical and administrative tasks, such as proposal development, project reporting and managing content production schedules and budgets.

Organizational Innovation (5%):

  • Contribute to process innovation within Reboot to improve organizational agility, efficiency, and impact.
  • Ensure lessons from industry best practices and client engagements are effectively integrated across Reboot’s work.
  • Ensure frequent knowledge transfer between programmatic team members and technical specialists, and support cross-pollination of expertise across the organization.

Communication (5%):

  • Contribute to Reboot’s internal learning and external communications and advocacy by creating content (including articles and blog posts), representing Reboot at events, sharing articles for discussion, and contributing to Reboot’s online presence.

Requirements
An ideal candidate has:

  • 3 – 6+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in a fast-paced and growing company or social enterprise.
  • A graduate Degree relevant to ICT, Design, Digital Media or another related field. Candidates with an Undergraduate Degree and significant professional experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with issues around ICT, governance, and/or public policy. Specialization within these areas, particularly in open government, education, and/or public service delivery is a definite plus.
  • Significant work experience in low resource settings and ability to operate effectively in unfamiliar cultural contexts and poor infrastructure environments. Experience in transitional states or politically sensitive environments is an asset.
  • Work experience in northern Nigeria is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively synthesize and present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort with public speaking and workshop facilitation; poised in client communications and project management.
  • Professionalism and client services orientation.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints. Can multitask with ease and adapt to frequently changing priorities.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English; knowledge of a local language is preferred.
  • Appreciation for complexity, comfort with ambiguity and a sense of humor are required for this role.
