Job Title: Manager, Entrepreneur Selection & Growth (ESG)

Description

  • We are looking for a dynamic, self-starting professional who is passionate about entrepreneurship and engaged with our mission, to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. On a day-to-day basis you will oversee our search & selection and service delivery activities, leading a small team of 2-3 ESG Associates.
  • You are a mature, structured thinker, well-organised, show strong investment/commercial judgement and have experience working with high-performing teams.

Position

  • Reports to: Managing Director
  • Works with: Endeavor account managers, Endeavor Entrepreneurs, network members and the Endeavor Global ESG team

Responsibilities
Pre-Selection:

  • Oversee the search efforts of the ESG team to maintain the Nigeria office’s strong pipeline of Endeavor candidates, providing clear guidance and feedback to ESG Associates in their day-to-day search efforts.
  • Successfully convert highest priority prospects to candidate status quickly and drive rapid progression through Endeavor’s selection process by the ESG team.
  • Independently run and decide outcomes of first-stage selection interviews and facilitate subsequent parts of our selection process on a selective basis, particularly for high-priority candidates and/or with VIP Endeavor mentors.
  • Provide guidance and input to ESG Associates for the development of high-quality reports to support Endeavor’s selection process.
  • Oversee the ESG team’s successful delivery of quarterly local selection panels in Lagos and support candidates at international selection panels, synthesize and deliver sensitive feedback to candidates.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to craft strategies to deliver our mentor portfolio objectives in Nigeria, including identifying, attracting, retaining and maximising engagement within our target mentor community (serial entrepreneurs and business owners, experienced investors and senior professionals with relevant functional expertise and track records).

Post-Selection:

  • Directly own and successfully manage ‘Outlier’ Endeavor Entrepreneur accounts.
  • Build trust with Endeavor Entrepreneurs and their next level management tier for engagement and effective service delivery. From time to time, recommend strategic actions and supporting services to entrepreneurs based on an active knowledge of Endeavor’s local and global mentor and service portfolios.
  • Build and manage relationships with ESG leads in other Endeavor markets and Endeavor Global to maximize outcomes and impact for all Endeavor Entrepreneurs, not just those selected by Endeavor’s Nigeria office.
  • Guide the development of service roadmaps for new Endeavor Entrepreneurs, bringing together their strategic and operational goals, Endeavor’s service offerings, feedback from the selection process and mentor expertise/talent. Ensure rapid, responsive and professional service delivery.
  • Independently facilitate advisory board meetings between Endeavor mentors and Endeavor Entrepreneurs, ensuring continuity and monitoring impact and engagement.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to build a complementary local service offering for Endeavor Entrepreneurs in Nigeria in response to the needs, input and feedback from Endeavor Entrepreneurs active in, and expanding into, Nigeria, including identifying and selecting the right partner organisations.

Other:

  • Successfully engage stakeholders (high-impact entrepreneur candidates, target mentors and partners) with Endeavor’s mission, model and values. Systematically build and maintain key relationships.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years’ of relevant work experience, ideally in consulting, investment banking or a client-services role in a high-performing, structured environment.
  • Relevant background and/or demonstrable interest in entrepreneurship, business, strategy, economics, finance, and/or international development.
  • Previous experience managing teams is a requirement.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; excellent written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency with MS Office. Familiarity with Salesforce and Slack is an advantage.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel.

Job Title: Associate, ESG (Entrepreneur, Selection & Growth)

  • We are looking for a dynamic, self-starting professional who is passionate about entrepreneurship and engaged with our mission, to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. On a day-to-day basis you will manage Endeavor Entrepreneur accounts, leveraging our Network and support programs to service the Endeavor Entrepreneurs in our Portfolio.
  • You will also be responsible for researching and compiling data to build out a pipeline of potential candidates for Endeavor Nigeria, coordinating our selection process and profiling candidate businesses.You should be intellectually curious, flexible, eager to learn and receptive to feedback.

Position

  • Reports to: Managing Director
  • Works with: Endeavor account managers, Endeavor Entrepreneurs, network members and the Endeavor Global ESG team

Responsibilities
Pre-Selection:

  • Conduct research to map the Nigerian entrepreneurial ecosystem and gather data to maintain Endeavor’s candidate pipeline in Nigeria.
  • Manage a strong pipeline of potential candidates, working to convert strong leads into Endeavor Entrepreneurs.
  • Pitch Endeavor to candidate entrepreneurs, and prospective mentors and/or partners, understanding how to tailor the message and delivery.
  • Build trust with, and seamlessly prepare, guide and coach Nigeria’s Endeavor Entrepreneur candidates through the Endeavor selection process.
  • Take the lead on preparing high-quality reports to support Endeavor’s selection process (including reviews of candidate business models, competitive strengths/weaknesses, operating metrics and financials).
  • Coordinate the logistics of regular Local Selection Panels, and support candidates at International Selection Panels.

Post-Selection:

  • Lead day-to-day servicing of dedicated Endeavor Entrepreneur accounts, working with Endeavor’s ESG team around the globe and leveraging the international Endeavor Network, to maximize benefits for Endeavor Entrepreneurs.
  • Develop service roadmaps for new Endeavor Entrepreneurs, bringing together the strategic and operational goals of our Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Endeavor’s service offerings and feedback from the selection process to outline a support plan.
  • Actively manage the Nigeria Endeavor Entrepreneur portfolio by developing a deep understanding of the companies and industries.
  • Coordinate quarterly Advisory Board meetings for Endeavor Entrepreneurs, selecting appropriate mentors to be Advisory Board members and managing their engagement.
  • Propose, help recruit and onboard new mentors for Endeavor Nigeria and manage the engagement of the local Mentor Network.
  • Using Salesforce, run reports and dashboards regularly to track and manage office performance, and keep complete and accurate records.

Requirements

  • Up to 5 years’ of relevant work experience, ideally in consulting, investment banking or a client-services role in a structured environment.
  • Relevant background and/or demonstrable interest in entrepreneurship, business, strategy, economics, finance, and/or international development.

Job Title: Marketing & Communications Manager – Endeavor Nigeria

You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive brand, marketing and communications strategy focused on events, outreach and digital media. As part of the founding team of a new office, this is an opportunity to help build Endeavor’s local brand and voice from the ground up!

  • Works with: Endeavor account managers, Endeavor Entrepreneurs, network members and the Endeavor Global marketing & communications team

Responsibilities

  • Brand Management: building local brand awareness as well as developing relevant collateral materials and marketing activities, working within Endeavor’s global corporate identity framework.
  • Events: maintaining an annual events calendar, developing and executing Endeavor managed and branded events, as well as supporting Endeavor’s participation in relevant community activities.
  • Outreach: building and maintaining contacts in the local and international press and PR organisations focused on entrepreneurship in Nigeria, and helping to position Endeavor’s Managing Director, board members and entrepreneurs as effective spokespeople for entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
  • Digital Content: maintaining Endeavor Nigeria’s website, publishing our monthly newsletter and executing a digital marketing/social media plan. This includes SEO, tracking and optimizing social media analytics and engagement.

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • We are looking for an entrepreneurial personality who has a proven capacity to achieve significant results with limited resources.
  • You must be highly motivated, focused, creative, flexible and able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, with at least five years’ relevant work experience
  • Well presented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated creativity in marketing and/or communications
  • Web and social media savvy
  • Strong computer software and graphics proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and graphic design software; Photoshop and InDesign knowledge a plus)
