Federal University, Wukari is one of the Nine Universities established by the Federal Government in 2011 as part of its commitment to providing greater access to quality higher education as well as equitable distribution of higher education Institutions. It is a dynamic institution located in a serene environment and gradually developing to be a sought-after global institution. All its academic programmes are fully accredited.

The Governing Council of the University is pleased to announce that the positions of Bursar will soon fall vacant in Federal University Wukari and therefore invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Wukari, Taraba

The Position

  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except as regards to matters for which the Bursar is responsible
  • Promotion of the welfare and discipline of a thriving workforce comprising of academic and non-teaching staff relies largely on the capability and quality leadership the Registrar can provide.
  • The Registrar is the custodian of University documents/records and the archives of our past
  • With a number of Faculties and Departments and new programme areas being planned, the Registrar carries a huge and enormous responsibility
  • The Registrar shall by virtue of his office be the Secretary to Council, Senate, Convocation and Congregation of the University
  • For the position of Registrar, the University seeks candidates with vision, managerial ability, Integrity and transparency in private and public life

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must possess a good honours Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) in Humanities or Social Sciences from any recognized University with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as Deputy Registrar in a Federal University
  • Possession of Master’s Degree and Doctor of Philosophy in the relevant field will be an added advantage
  • Possession of NYSC Discharge/Exclusion Certificate or Evidence of Exemption is mandatory
  • Candidates must possess post-qualification administrative and professional experience Fellowship/Membership of recognized bodies especially ANUPA, NIM, CIPM, CIA, IPMAN, RAMN, CAIAUA, etc is required.

Requirements

  • The right candidate shall therefore be a person of high integrity strong moral character with excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to instil confidence in others in addition to commanding the loyalty and respect of the members of University community
  • The candidate must fully understand the complexity of a University system and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to promote a world class administrative system
  • In addition the Registrar must be able to demonstrate dynamism and wisdom when confronted with crisis or undesirable abilities for institutional loyalty and networking wlth the outside world
  • Furthermore, the candidate must be versed in the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the 21st Century higher education environment
  • The candidate must also be in good health and not be more than sixty years of age on assumption of duty
  • The successful candidate should be able to sustain and improve on the University Registry and establish linkages.

Vision Statement

  • Candidates should provide a succinct vision statement of not more than 500 words relating to the University in his 5-year tenure with particular reference to the administrative affairs of the University.

Tenure

  • The successful candidate shall be for a single term of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment.

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post in other Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Universities Governing Council as appropriate.

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Wukari, Taraba

The Position

  • The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University that is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative and control of financial affairs of the University
  • The Bursar shall advise the Vice-Chancellor on finance-related matters, co-ordinate the activities of the Bursary Department in line with the Financial Regulations and Global Best Practice.
  • The duties shall include monitoring monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variances against the budgets and insuring that they are reconciled, monitoring treasury activities including cash flow projections and forecasts for prudence and accountability, negotiating with financial and government institutions with regard to financial matters
  • The candidates must fully understand the complexity of a University system
  • In addition, the candidate should demonstrate sufficient knowledge of responsibilities of the Bursar which includes among other things
  • Control and management of funds, investment and loans
  • Formulation and implementation of financial policies
  • Production of accounting manuals and financial procedures
  • Interpretation and application of accounting regulations
  • Preparation of annual estimates
  • Identifying training needs for manpower development

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting from a recognised University
  • Post-qualification cognate administrative and professional experience as Deputy Bursar with vast experience in Bursary activities in a reputable Nigerian Federal University
  • The candidate should have and show demonstrable evidence of consummate management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions and in addition must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidate should possess NYSC Discharge/Exclusion Certificate or Evidence of Exemption
  • Candidate must possess Full Membership of recognized professional bodies i.e. ICAN, ANAN, CA, CPA, ACCA

In addition, the candidate should:

  • Exhibit the ability of a team leader, who leads by example and has clear mentorship skills and plans and must not be more than sixty years of age on assumption of duty
  • The successful candidate should also be able to sustain and improve on the University Bursary and establish linkages
  • Be a person with good leadership qualities who can inspire and motivate colleagues, a person with clear vision for the development of the University and must be ready to implement the vision of the University
  • Be focused, innovative, commendable in both character and quality of service
  • Exhibit a considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable Integrity and transparency on matters of financial resource management with an outstanding experience management level
  • Have a sound background in the application of ICT in financial and administrative management.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Wukari, Taraba

The Position

  • The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library
  • He is responsible for the coordination of the Library and Information Services in the University, its, Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Departments, Institutes and other teaching or research units
  • The University Librarian is expected to demonstrate awareness of the central nature of Library & Information Services in the teaching, learning and research process and have the ability to instill in members of the University community, the principles of Information and Digital Literacy and commitment to life-long learning
  • The candidate must therefore be in position to provide leadership in the application of Information and Communications Technology in the delivery of quality higher education, research and community service
  • The candidate must also be able to improve on current developments in the University through national and international linkages
  • The candidate must be in good health and not older than sixty years of age on assumption of duty.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates for the position of the University Librarian must possess a good Honours Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower as well as Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Library and Information Science from a recognized University
  • The candidate must be a Professor of Library and Information Science of at least ten years standing
  • The candidate must also have at least fifteen (15) years experience ins Federal University Library. Ten (10) of these must have been at Library Management position
  • The candidate must have held positions not below that of Deputy University Librarian
  • The candidate must possess experience of automation of Library Services
  • In addition to the academic and professional qualifications, the candidate must possess evidence of membership and registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications both In quality and quantum in reputable international and national journals is required
  • The candidate must possess good managerial skills and competendes including a clear understanding of the nature and dynamics of the intricacies in deploying information technologies as tools for the management of information collections in line with global best practices in contemporary University Libraries
  • Candidate is expected to exhibit strong team leadership and mentorship skills and able to inspire and motivate colleagues to support the vision for the development of the University Library
  • The candidate must be focused, innovative, commendable in both character and quality of service
  • The candidate must also exhibit a considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of financial resource management with an outstanding experience at management level.
