Job Title: Finance Business Partner

Location: Lagos

Purpose / Role

  • To originate and lead the Finance functions by driving strategies and transformational initiatives that ensure the company is well-equipped and positioned with international financial best practices and the requisite competencies to support the vision and overall strategy.

Key Aims and Objectives

  • The role is responsible for driving the company planning and profitability/revenue assurance and transformational growth strategy
  • The goal is to protect the company’s revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.

Prime Responsibilities and Duties
The core responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner are to:

  • Play an active leadership role in informing and delivering the strategy of the company.
  • Drive financial performance and advise on and track all investments.
  • Ensure that the Company is both adequately and optimally funded to meet all operational needs and expansion plans.
  • Set, define and deliver a strategy for the finance function that is both fully aligned with the overall strategy of the Company and ensures that the function adopts functional ‘best practice’ and embeds a culture of continuous performance improvement.
  • Have principal responsibility for accounting, audited financial statements, management accounts, treasury, tax, financial planning, reporting and analysis of financials to all stakeholders and enterprise risk management and internal audit.

Specific Responsibilities
Strategy:

  • Proactive contribution to the setting and delivery of Company strategy
  • Ensure that Company financial plans are fully aligned with the group finance strategy
  • Provide strategic advice on key projects, Investment opportunities (organic and inorganic).
  • Develop an executable strategy to deliver the vision of the finance function.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee all external and internal reporting ensuring the integrity and timeliness of all reported figures.
  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Use insightful commentaries to help all stakeholders understand the financial performance of the Company and to inform decision making.

Business Partnering:

  • Act as Business Partner to the Company Function Leads, offering insightful and value added, practical and independent advice and support.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the businesses to ensure optimal support is provided.
  • Agree and manage Service Level Agreements with the Business.

Funding and Treasury Management:

  • Define and implement a Company Treasury and Investment Policy (in conjunction with the GCFO and Finance Board Committee)
  • Actively manage the Company cash flow through accurate historical reporting and robust forecasting.
  • Optimize the effective cost of finance for the Company.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Oversee the Company’s annual budget process and all other medium and longer-term planning initiatives.
  • Ensure all projections are robust (challenging but realistic)
  • Ensure that the Board and Management are always fully informed of the full year financial outlook through the sharing of accurate and timely re-forecasts for the year.

Risk Management and Internal Audit:

  • Responsible for Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit.
  • Ensure that Risk and Internal Audit Issues are reported and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all business and function leaders take responsibility for the risks within their area of responsibility.
  • Build and develop Risk Management and Internal Audit teams always ensuring the appropriate level of experience.

Governance:

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in respect of all financial aspects of the business.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls according to international best practice.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in respect of all financial aspects of the business.
  • Oversee all accounting ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.

Finance Function Transformation:

  • Lead the Finance Transformation program to take the finance function to a top performing team, continuously applying and demonstrating ‘best practice’.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Agree, measure and monitor performance KPIs for the function.
  • Document and continuously improve all end-to-end processes.
