Job Title: Data.FI Nigeria Infographics and Communications Specialist – Consultant

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of Position:

  • Palladium is seeking an Infographics and Communications specialist to support the USAID Strategic Information (SI) Team and service delivery implementing partners (IPs) in the COVID-19 response .
  • The Infographics and Communications Consultant will be responsible for developing quality and visually appealing presentations, content management, communication materials for the COVID-19 response through graphic design and web optimization solutions.
  • The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
  • The Infographics and Communications will work closely with USAID-supported states’ teams and report to the Data Analytics and Use Team Lead.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop infographics using supplied data to present core messages and organize complex information into visual representations for all USAID-supported states in the COVID-19 response;
  • Deliver creative infographics and technical solutions for print, electronic and animated presentations.
  • Deliver high-quality photographs and videos, maps, charts, information graphics and branding to support project documents on COVID-19 response.
  • Communicate conceptual ideas and design decisions to Data.FI project team
  • Develop the visual design taking into consideration typography, iconography, layout and brand identity
  • Conceptualize and execute creative graphic design and layout for research, presentations and COVID-19 communiques to Stakeholders
  • Disseminate information for upcoming activities and events related to COVID-19 response
  • Develop Web content, and familiarity with web analytics

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, IT, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Must possess knowledge of graphic design software and tools including Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint
  • 2-3+ years of experience in professional commercial design
  • Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript, PowerPoint, Prezi, Web Content Management System (CMS) experience, audio editing, video editing, writing, web analytics, familiarity with designing for accessibility and usability
  • Experience work in a health sector will be an added advantage
  • Must have a strategic understanding of marketing/communication/social media campaigns in order to recommend and incorporate visual communications. Adaptive design eye, attention to detail, creative thinking skills, and a strong sense of concept development.
  • Ability to handle concurrent projects and multi-task.
  • A portfolio of past works is required.

Job Title: Data.FI Nigeria Data Analyst Consultant

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of Position:

  • Palladium is seeking a Consultant Data Analyst to support the USAID Strategic Information (SI) Team and service delivery implementing partners (IPs) in the COVID-19 response.
  • The Data Analyst will provide in-depth analysis of COVID-19 data, triangulate data from secondary sources and provide analytics support to Emergency Operation Centers/Situation rooms across 8 USAID supported states.
  • The overall aim of the Data.FI data use strategy is to both generate further demand for data and improve decision making process by stakeholders.
  • The Consultant will report to the Senior Regional Data Use and Analytics Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Strategic information officers in the field; coordinate analytics related to COVID-19 for dissemination in the 8 states
  • In-depth analysis of COVID-19 response data for all the USAID-supported facilities
  • Conduct data mining on COVID-19 response through web-scrapping and access of secondary data sources to conduct a data triangulation for advance analysis on COVID-19 response i.e. predictive analysis on positive and negative factors affecting spread of the data
  • Daily updates and analysis provided to all states and USAID Mission to be able to measure results and eventual impact of investments towards COVID-19 response
  • Working with senior leaders on impactful messaging products for high-level discussions.
  • Support data extraction, aggregation and triangulation from different data sources and creating a data repository for COVID-19 data
  • Support conduct of regular analyses and reviews of National and State level performance on COVID-19 output and outcome indicators
  • Support development of data visualization and compiling of user requirements; clarify and document data analysis and reporting needs.
  • Support guidance and insight on data visualization options for dashboard design.
  • Support documentation, reporting requirements as necessitated by the COVID-19 response.
  • Working with the infographics specialist and GIS expert to produce timely analytical products for dissemination at both the national and State levels
  • Support ad hoc analysis as requested during the COVID-19 response period

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Monitoring and Evaluation or a related field
  • Advanced data analysis skills and proficiency in at least one statistical or GIS software packages such Stata, SPSS, Epi, QGIS and so on
  • At least 3- 5 years proven work experience in data analysis, data mining, BI (Tableau, Power BI and other tools) and Analytics development or other related analytical projects with recent proven experience developing data visualizations, dashboards, and reporting. Proficient in development of infographics and packaging of information products

Job Title: Consultant on Product and Policy Expert on Poultry and Livestock Market

Background

  • Propcom Mai-karfi is a DFID programme aimed at increasing incomes for the poor in Northern Nigeria through enhanced employment opportunities and improved productivity in selected agricultural market systems in Northern NigeriaPropcom Mai-karfi recently got a 3 years extension (2018-2021) with focus on the North East (NE) states and 3 North West states- Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa statesThe aim is to influence INGOs in the NE states to shift from humanitarian to development and to implement market recovery and systems development programmes across the targeted states.
  • The project has over the last few years worked in the areas of poultry health and improved poultry husbandryIt has also facilitated activities in poultry marketing and livestock.

In this phase, the project intends to implement the following strategies under poultry and livestock;

  • Expand commercial access to veterinary products and services through a network of community animal health workers (CAHW).
  • Generate demand for veterinary services through expanded networks of community vaccinators (CVs) and vaccination campaigns.
  • Build the capacity of poultry and livestock producers on basic husbandry techniques to increase their flock sizes and survival rates
  • Facilitate output market linkages for poultry and livestock products.
    • Currently, the Poultry and Livestock team is managing 10 partnerships and sub/service contracts, facilitating activities across the 9 programme states working with both the public and private sectors to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers (SHF)Expectedly, these partnerships require facilitating several intervention activities, running concurrently thus causing a strain on the existing human resourceThe team has identified that for the various models and interventions to be sustained after the end of the project, distributors need constant supply of vaccines that is usable for the SHFTo meet up with the planned schedules and execute planned activities with precision, the team requires the support of a consultant.

Purpose
Seek consultant to support in facilitating:

  • Alternative sourcing of poultry and livestock vaccine, work with an established and interested vendor(s) in Nigeria to purchase the vaccine and distribute the vaccine across identified distributors in the PM programme states.
  • Develop policy related interventions in the poultry and livestock market that will improve the livelihood of poultry and livestock farmers such as the CAHW programme.

Specific Activities

  • Support NVRI to improve the efficiency of vaccine production and supply to distributors working with smallholder farmers.
  • Identify alternative manufacturers of thermotolerant Newcastle and PPR vaccines.
  • Facilitate the establishment of business relationship between international manufacturers and in-country distributors/pharmaceutical importers in Nigeria, at competitive pricing
  • Lead in expediting activities to secure waivers and import licences from relevant regulatory authorities and institutions in Nigeria and country of vaccine manufacture.
  • Identify key distributors across PM project states willing to buy these vaccines from the pharmaceutical importer at the agreed wholesale price
  • Broker linkage between importers of thermotolerant Newcastle and PPR vaccines and key distributors across PM project states
  • Monitor vaccine uptake at state levels.
  • Lead programme advocacy on the CAHW implementation to relevant authorities to increase adoption by public and private veterinary community
  • Lead all focal discussions with Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) council members, states and other important bodies.

Outputs/Deliverables

  • At least 2 international sources of PPR and NDV-i2 vaccines identified with demonstrable interest in marketing with Nigerian market.
  • Written commitment from at least 2 pharmaceutical importers willing to import from the international sources of the thermotolerant vaccine
  • Evidence of agreement signed with/between one pharmaceutical importer and an international manufacturer on thermotolerant vaccines at a competitive price
  • Detailed list of key distributors that have agreed to offtake vaccines from the pharmaceutical importer(s) at a wholesale price.
  • At least 2 stakeholder meetings with council members of Veterinary Council of Nigeria
  • Update reports to VCN on states-run CAHW programme.
  • Monthly updates to PM on tasks accomplished

Location:

  • The Consultant will work from place of residence and may be required to make frequent travels to Lagos, Abuja, PM project states and sites of international manufacturers.

Reporting:

  • The consultant will report to the Tier Leads and work closely with the Market Manager in charge of Poultry and Livestock Intervention

Qualifications

  • Relevant academic qualification in Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Business, Marketing or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in vaccine production with good knowledge of existing international manufacturers of thermo-tolerant vaccines in Africa
  • Good understanding of the regulatory requirements for the registration of animal vaccines and veterinary pharmaceuticals with NAFDAC
  • Previous experience and the ability to work with the political environment to favor the market
  • Excellent knowledge in pitching with relevant authorities on a subject matter
  • Experience in negotiating deals
  • Excellent report writing and presentation
  • Excellent knowledge in the use Microsoft office suite.
  • Note: Proficiency in Hausa language will be an added advantage
