Visas for Creation Program Application 2020 for Artists and Curators in Africa & Caribbean
Visas for creation is part of the Africa and Caribbean cultural cooperation mission. This programme supports artistic emergence in Africa and in the Caribbean through residencies in mainland France and in its overseas territories. It allows recipients to develop a creative or research project and to benefit from air fare coverage, a living allowance of €1,000 per month and repatriation insurance.
This programme is intended for artists and curators residing in Africa or the Caribbean islands, who have professional experience, in order to develop their project or career, a two-month residence period in France or in its overseas regions and departments within a professional organisation (such as the National Choreographic Centre, the National Centre for Choreographic Development, the National Stage, national drama centres, arts centres, contemporary music centres etc.) or a partner institution of the Institut Français (a list can be downloaded below), or one that is linked to a residency programme in a local authority.
It is open to the following candidates:
- African artists or curators living in Africa or in the Indian oceanic region.
- Caribbean artists or curators living in the Caribbean islands only (not admissible: french overseas regions and departments).
It is concerned with the following disciplines:
- Architecture, arts, circus, dance, design, digital arts, fashion, multidisciplinary projects, music, photography, street and puppet arts, theatre, visual arts.
Visas for Creation Application 2020 REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Complete the online form using the following information:
Project holder: informations about the artist or curator.
Description of the project: title of the project, brief presentation of the residency project, objectives and expected results, period of the residency.
Partnerships: informations on possible contacts and partnerships established with French and/or foreign artists and/or professionals.
Documents to be submitted with the application form:
A specific project for the residency;
A resume;
A signed statement ensuring that the works to be presented are by the applicant;
A commitment letter from the associated residency welcoming you.
Visas for Creation Application 2020 Terms and conditions
Candidates must find a partner organisation that is able to provide technical and artistic support (residence type) and cover their accommodation. A letter confirming this agreement will be requested at application stage. A list of partners is provided for information purposes in the
Each candidate is free to present their residency project in an organisation adapted to it. The committee will pay special attention to this choice.
