YouthHubAfrica Girls Documenting Covid-19 Experiences Program for young Nigerians

YouthHubAfrica invites interested young girls, parents, and guidance, and NGOs working with girls in underserved communities to submit nominations for its “Girls Documenting Covid-19 Experiences’ program. The girls documenting the Covid-19 experiences program seek to provide digital media and storytelling skills to girls from underserved communities across Nigeria while the girls use their newly gained skills to tell stories through digital photography. It will also help the world to understand how the Coronavirus pandemic and its attending lockdown of schools and public utilities have affected girls and their communities.

The aim of this project is to document the experiences of these girls and their communities during this pandemic using photography. The program will provide an opportunity for young girls to be exposed to basic photography skills.

This program will provide a platform to:

Build the capacity of 8 girls on storytelling and digital photography while providing mentorship for them. Each girl will be assigned to a female mentor and a successful photographer.
Document the girls’ daily activities since the lockdown of schools started and how this affected their educational chances.
Document what other students in the neighborhood have been engaging in since the lockdown of schools and how their lives have been affected by Covid-19.
