Eye Foundation Hospital Group (EFHG) is a healthcare group with speciality in Eye care services. The Eye Foundation Hospital was started in 1993 as a high tech specialist eye hospital capable of providing services comparable to those obtainable abroad. It is the first and foremost indigenous eye practice in the country that runs a group practice with many sub specialized ophthalmologists.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Designation: Group Accountant (SVMCo, TES & SHPL)
Reports to: Chief Finance Officer
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Descriptions

  • Preparation and presentation of monthly Performance Report complete with variance explanations for SHPL and SVMCO
  • Preparation of Daily Bank Position Report to aid treasury and cash planning
  • Approval of customers sales invoices.
  • Issuance of receipt for payment made by customers
  • Raising of cheques for payment and daily banking operations.
  • Daily preparation and posting of payment vouchers in a manner that ensures that transaction classifications are in appropriate heads
  • Prepare journal entries for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, amortizations, errors and variances
  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts for all assets, liabilities, income and expenses transactions
  • Provide analysis of balances relating to accruals, account payables, account receivables, intercompany.
  • Provide appropriate accounting information on all customer accounts/ledger and balances as required.
  • Preparation and update of fixed assets schedule with posting of additions and monthly depreciation expense to the General Ledger.
  • Support assigned teams (SHPL & SVMCO) in detailing or resolving any accounting issues or queries.
  • Provide Finance support for settlement of foreign currency obligations reporting, and any other requested foreign exchange purchase related data.
  • Assist in preparation of tax schedules and filing activities.
  • Perform assurance over completeness and accounting for revenue and related lodgment and credit sales.
  • Perform the end of the month/year account closing activities. to standard accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Follow documentation retention policy to maintain accounting files.
  • Ensure that the accounting department adheres to the standard accounting principles and procedures of the company.
  • Prepare a Step-by-Step listing of your work process; Please note that this is a critical function without which you will not qualify for any form of leave;
  • Tracing of direct lodgment into the bank accounts and reconciliation with invoices and receipts raised.
  • Prepare schedule of provision for doubtful debts.
  • Periodic review of financial reports to identify any discrepancies and explain variances.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as prescribed by the CFO or Head of Finance to assist in achieving Finance & Accounts Department and overall organizational objectives.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Financial reporting – responsible for ensuring that organizations issue financial statements, tax returns, and bank reports on time and according to internal and external guidelines, so strong and sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting skills are essential
  • Financial forecasting – effective projection and forecasting skills are also vital in this role, especially when developing budgets and providing overall financial direction to the organization
  • Communication skills – should be strong written and verbal communication, able to work with accounts staff, executive leadership, regulatory authorities and external banking and audit professionals.
  • Presentation Skills – Should be adept at public speaking and communicating ideas, information and reports to peers and senior management with clarity and purpose.
  • Compliance – Must understand and be able to communicate the need for and compliance with key controls.
  • Accounting Software – must be proficient in the use of accounting software

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have at least a degree in Accounting.
  • Professional ACA or ACCA.
  • Minimum of 7 years accounting experience.
  • Audit experience is an added advantage.

Computer Savvy Skills:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft office {Word, Excel and PowerPoint}
  • Proficient use of Accounting and ERP software.
  • Proficient in SAGE accounting software is an added advantage.
