Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI) is a National Non-governmental organization, which is committed and active in community humanitarian and developmental projects with its presence in Borno and Adamwa states. The primary focus of RRI is on the improving and alleviating the problems of the less privileged, deprived, vulnerable group and people affected by armed conflicts in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Areas of focus includes; food security and livelihood, Nutrition, Protection, Education, Water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Metal health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) achieved through the implementation of projects targeted at the community level especially on the most vulnerable members of the community.

In line with its focus, RRI will be implementing General Food Distributions (GFD) through In-kind and Blanket Supplementary Program (BSFP) in Magumeri LGA of Borno State. This is aimed at preventing already vulnerable House Holds from falling into starvation and malnutrition, focusing particularly on young children 6 – 23/24 months and pregnant and lactating women and girls (PLW).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Assistant (Female)

Location: Magumeri LGA, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Role Purpose

  • This role of the Nutrition Assistant will assist the Nutrition programme officer in the implementation of Nutrition activities while providing support and supervising the volunteers and community nutrition Mobilizers in the Project’s Communities in implementing Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme (BSFP) and Infant and Young Child Feeding [IYCF]) while integrating with other sectoral interventions.
  • The nutrition Assistant will also work with other agencies providing nutrition services in ensuring linkage of nutrition beneficiaries. Throughout intervention, the Nutrition Assistant will work towards ensuring quality delivery of nutrition interventions in the Project location.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sensitizations, providing key messages related to the programme objectives, organization of distributions, targeting and eligibility criteria.
  • Supervise MUAC (middle upper arm circumference) screening of Pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under 5 years.
  • Screen, tally, register and coordinate the screening of children to verify their age at the distribution point; the nutrition screener/register additionally is required to train the Nutrition volunteers.
  • Report to the Nutrition Officer on BSFP distribution update.
  • Collaborate with other NGOs on nutrition activities and to refer children identified and provide technical support to the nutrition assistant.
  • Mainstream the nutritional activities in line with standards in his or her LGA with regards to Infant and Young Child feeding (IYCF) programs.
  • Supervising the Community Mobilisers and volunteers in support of the distribution process and in charge of crowd control.
  • Conduct registration of beneficiaries as needed and verification of beneficiaries at distribution point.
  • Support the Field Officer with organizing the distribution point to respond to protection and accountability to affected populations criteria.
  • Conduct distribution of in-kind food assistance to the entitled beneficiaries.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you by RRI

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Degree in Nutrition, Health, Public Health or any related fields.
  • Must have at least 1 year work experience
  • Experience in Nutrition and community-based programming will be an added advantage
  • Familiarity with the Humanitarian context.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with all beneficiaries and their caregivers
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Understanding of Hausa and Kanuri is highly required.

Job Title: Tally Assistant

Location: Magumeri LGA, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Role

  • The post will be responsible for the implementation of WFP funded General Food Distribution focusing on IDPs and vulnerable host communities.
  • Ensuring equitable distribution, monitoring and mobilisation of the community to encourage their participation in the distribution activities.
  • The roll purpose is to tally commodities and assist in stacking and physical inventory activities to maximise accuracy and efficiency of commodity management.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Tally receipt/dispatch of commodities including transformation of commodities during internal milling operations, identify and report to the supervisor any anomalies, to support accurate and effective commodity management in the warehouse.
  • Implement and maintain accurate stacking and assist in conducting periodic physical inventory checks following the established guidelines and standards, to support compliance with internal control procedures and systems.
  • Prepare accurate tally reports including efficient preparation and distribution of tally sheets to relevant parties, to ensure consistent and prompt accountability for commodity movement from/to and storage in the warehouse or at food distribution point
  • Supervise the warehouse/Food distribution point cleaning after loading/unloading and reconstitution exercises, to ensure it meets the established standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required that may be assigned from time by supervisors.

Qualification and Education Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess a Degree with at least 2 years work experience.
  • Experience in conducting basic logistics activities (tallying) and reporting skills
  • Experience in implementation food distribution programmes

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Professional,open, motivated, mature, creative, responsible, flexible and culturally sensitive
  • Preferred: A previous experience in similar roles in a similarhumanitarian set up
  • With a good knowledge of the intervention areas and local context
  • A basic knowledge of the local language (Hausa/Kanuri) is an advantage.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, including writing skills and reporting skills
  • Computer proficiency.

Job Title: CFM Assistant

Location: Magumeri LGA, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Role

  • The post will be responsible for the implementation of WFP funded General Food Distribution focusing on IDPs and vulnerable host communities.
  • Ensuring equitable distribution, monitoring and mobilisation of the community to encourage their participation in the distribution activities.
  • The post holder is to assist the Protection officer in ensuring that mechanisms are in place at all distribution points to strengthen the quality and accountability of emergency response as well as upholding the organization’s commitment towards Accountability to Affected People (AAP) standards, especially in regards to information sharing, beneficiaries’ participation, complaints and response mechanism.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Assist the Protection Officer in establishing and managing the complaint and feedback mechanism project.
  • Receive complaints and feedback and respond to enquiries at the complaint desk at distribution sites.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of complaints and feedback database/ information System and ensure information is shared on a regular basis.
  • Carry out regular community feedback functions, ensuring that all SOPs and JDPH core policies are respected.
  • Maintenance of an effective record and filing system for all complaints solved and pending issues including correspondences.
  • Lodge all feedback, complaints and response in the CFM database.
  • Support to ensure complaints are closed within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Provide accurate information related to the subject beneficiary matter and other related ongoing activities.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all the data related to the beneficiary.
  • Submit internal, and accurate reports to the Protection Officer. The reports will be submitted weekly, or daily according to the urgency of the complaint; include monthly recommendations, if needed, to Program Manager as received.
  • Follow-up and receive weekly feedback, and case status progress. Ensure all documents and actions taken are documented, and feedback is given back to the beneficiary.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required that may be assigned from time by supervisors.
  • As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of RRI safeguarding policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Diploma in Agriculture and any other related field of study
  • Prior experience in Humanitarian or International Development programming with at least 1 year of field experience working with beneficiaries, preferably on distribution projects
  • Understanding of distribution best-practices
  • Ability to collect and record data documenting distribution details especially as relates to commodity quantities and numbers of beneficiaries
  • Good communication skills with the rural community members, local and traditional leaders, good planning, reporting functions.
  • Understanding of basic anti-fraud practices
  • Experience working in a conflict setting
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in WFP, USDA or USAID / FFP programmes
  • Experience in community mobilization and group organizational skills
  • Understanding of basic GFD concepts
  • Competence in Microsoft Office application
