We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Medical Doctor

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
  • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
  • Ensure bedside training of paramedical team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • To work in collaboration with the nurses to ensure medical care of quality
  • To work as a team member, taking in consideration the non-medical problems the patients have to face (food and care problems etc.)

MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities
On Admission: ER/ICU:

  • To examine all new cases admitted in the ITFC
  • To carry out a basic medical examination.
  • To recognize, call and/or immediately inform the expat doctor about the children in a serious condition requiring emergency interventions.
  • To refer to others NGO/Partners non malnourished children with complicated cases requiring further management.
  • To check the patients’ hydration status and to prescribe re-hydration treatment if necessary.
  • To prescribe routine and basic treatment according to the protocols used in respecting the drug dosage based on the weight of the patients.
  • To completely and properly fill the individual card with the medical data.
  • To give clear instructions to the nurses on the medical care and specific monitoring of the patient.
  • To do a quick late-afternoon round to be sure that the patients are OK for the night, the directives are done.

Monitoring of the Patients
In Phase 1:

  • To daily follow the patients in phase 1:
  • To estimate the medical evolution (improvement, deterioration etc.)
  • To change the medical treatment according to the protocol
  • To hold properly the patient folder
  • To decide, in collaboration with the nurse, on the transfer of the patient(s) to phase 2
  • To ensure all patients above six months, have been vaccinated when transferring to phase 2
  • To do a quick late-afternoon round to be sure that the patients are OK for the night, the rounds directives are well followed.

In Phase 2:

  • To daily follow the patients with medical problems.
  • To control 3 times a week the medical status of all the patients.
  • To prescribe basic medical treatment.
  • To refer to expat doctor the patients who are not gaining weight or who have complicated medical problems.
  • To decide, in collaboration with the nurse, on the discharge of the patients.

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:

  • Medical Doctor Diploma, MBBS Certificate, Desirable certificate in Tropical Medicine and Emergency Response Training (ERT)

Experience:

  • 2 years experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work. Previous experience in nutrition/ HIV/TB program, General Pediatric ward would be an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English. Hausa / Kanuri / Fulani language desirable

Knowledge:

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel).

Job Title: Finance / HR Assistant – (SMC)

Scope of Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Execute administrative tasks and do a follow-up of project accountancy, according to the administration manager’s indications and MSF procedures, in order to ensure legal compliance and keep strict control over monetary resources.
  • Execute administrative and legal related tasks, under the supervision of the Administrator Manager, checking payroll calculations and updating personal files in order to ensure accuracy, compliance, and on-time payments.
  • Implement cash management procedures in order to ensure the highest control and security, and ensure cash availability.
  • Prepare employment contracts in conformity with legal requirements including specific amendments when necessary in order to ensure local labour and fiscal law compliance.
  • Enter data into the HR database and personal files and keep them up-to-date in order to facilitate HR processes management.
  • Update Social security Tax office employee files in order to meet legal requirements and duties.
  • Draw up monthly payslips for all staff, editing and updating the necessary data, in order to ensure the punctuality and accuracy of staff payroll.
  • Draw up the final pay slip and employment certificate at the end of a contract in order to meet legal requirements while defending MSF’s interests.
  • Follow up on all expiring rental contract dates and inform the Administration Manager in order to leave enough time to arrange a renewal or look for some other alternative.
  • Assist the administration manager in the provision of monthly treasury and planning in order to ensure the coverage of daily needs, advances on salaries, payroll, etc.
  • Process the payment to suppliers and keep strict on all documentation involved, informing the administration manager of any sort of disparity.
  • Carry out all accounting tasks and activities in order to ensure strict control of all expenditures and the reliability of statements and documentation.
  • Make all administrative information available to the staff (posting, meetings, etc.)
  • Classify and prepare all accounting pieces as requested by the Administration Manager.
  • File the accounting documents and enter the accounting pieces in the accounting software, with support from the Administration Manager and/or the Accounting Manager (ACMA).
  • Support the Administration Manager in translating documents into the local language. Assists the Administration Manager in meetings upon request.

Minimum Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 – 8 years relevant work experience.
  • Desirable finance, business, or administration-related diploma.
  • Essential previous working experience of at least two years in relevant jobs.
  • Desirable experience in MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.

Job Title: Pharmacy Storekeeper – (SMC)

Scope of Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Execute the pharmacy/medical warehouse storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level and following recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Pharmacy Supervisor, and in collaboration with the logistics team.
  • Supervising material orders and dispatching in order to ensure rational use.
  • Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure continuous availability. It includes:
  • Ensuring good storage conditions of all medical items in the pharmacy in accordance with pharmaceutical standards in order to ensure continuous availability.
  • Ensuring correct fill-in entries on the stock cards and software.
  • Carrying out or participating in regular inventories including EPREP stock.
  • Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months.
  • Preparing orders of the different consumption units (departments, wards, others), ensuring proper packaging and dispatching and reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy Supervisor. Informing Pharmacy Supervisor as soon as stock reaches an alert limit.
  • Controlling warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials are kept in good keeping conditions, includes: e.g. Monitoring temperature in the warehouse and ensuring that products requiring cold chain are suitably stored and transports received, stored, and prepared, and transported appropriately according to MSF Supply and Cold Chain protocols.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of premises (stock pharmacy) and in close collaboration with the logistics department, maintaining refrigerating equipment.
  • Controlling warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regards to damage, loss, attempted break-ins, or theft in the warehouse.
  • Ensuring that items to be quarantined (on-going quality alerts) or to be placed in quarantine zone (batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from the stock and safely locked.
  • Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates, and drugs to expire in the following 6 months. Preparing reports and passing them on to the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess an OND qualification with 1 – 6 years relevant work experience.
  • Essential, secondary school. Desirable, medical-related studies.
  • Essential previous experience of at least 2 years in similar or relevant positions.
  • Desirable previous experience in MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
  • Essential local language, desirable mission working language.
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
