Program Officer – Seed System and Agribusiness (West Africa) at the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF)

African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is an international not-for-profit organization that facilitates, and promotes public/private partnerships to access, develop, adapt and deliver appropriate agricultural technologies for sustainable use by smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. AATF works with African governments, private and public technology owners and developers, NGOs, seed companies and African farmers to identify and access technologies that will address farmers’ key problems and enhance their productivity. AATF is a registered charity under the laws of England and Wales and has host country status with the Government of Kenya. The Foundation depends on the ongoing support and collaboration of different partners and investors to meet its objectives.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Program Officer – Seed System and Agribusiness (West Africa)

Location: Nigeria
Supervisor: Seed Production Manager

Overview

  • Under the direct supervision of the Seed Production Manager the Programme Officer Seed System & Agribusiness will assist in project management; coordination and reporting and accountability obligations of the EGS Nigeria Project.
  • The role aims to strengthen seed systems and promote agribusiness and be the AATF liaison point for the EGS Nigeria Entity and Agridrive Limited.

Project Management

  • Manage sub grants under the EGS Nigeria project and AATF’s Joint Ventures with Agridrive; monitor work plans and budget utilization on a quarterly basis
  • Monitor partner seed companies’ field activities including demos and field days.
  • Represent AATF in local stakeholders’ meetings
  • Be the day-to-day project contact person for the EGS entity and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the EGS project and joint venture results and risks framework
  • Monitor the EGS Company strategy and business plan in line with AATFs incubation responsibilities
  • Collect all neceary information and provide input to the annual BMGF project report

Coordinate Incubation Services

  • Facilitate discussion every year on the progress of the incubation services and update the yearly Service Level Agreement (SLA) between AATF and the EGS Entity and between AATF and Agridrive Ltd.
  • Support the EGG Entity in terms of seed production and quality control with guidance from AATF Seed ProductionManager
  • Support the EGS Entity in customers’ surveys as needed
  • Support hybrid technology, Mechanization and digital technology promotional campaigns.
  • Monitor incubation services according to the SLA between the EGS Entity and AATF
  • Participate in the monthly EGS Entity Sales and Operations meetings and relevant meetings with Agridrive Ltd on the Joint Ventures

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Agricultural Science / Agribusiness
  • Professional qualification such as Seed production will be added advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience working on agribusiness, seed sector, seed systems development
  • Language – English and French.
