Bayelsa State Government Reintroduces Written Interview for Management Cadre of Civil Service

Bayelsa State Government has reintroduced written interviews for the management cadre of the State Civil Service to promote excellence.

Speaking during the exercise in Yenagoa, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Peter Singabele stated that the idea behind the written interview was to remind civil servants, especially those in the management cadre that promotion is not automatic and so, must be earned.

He remarked that the written exercise would also promote competence and efficiency in the civil service which he described as the engine room of government.
Dr. Singabele stated that the government of Senator Douye Diri has ensured that the promotion exercise was done as and when due, stressing that there is no backlog as everybody due for promotion in 2021 will be given the opportunity to be promoted through the promotion interview.

He said the days of delayed promotion and implementation are over and advised civil servants to reciprocate government’s gesture by doing their jobs deligently.
A total of one hundred and sixty six civil servants between grade Level 14-16 sat for the promotion interview.
