Job Title: Immigration Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description
Service Purpose:

  • This Service is created for immigration administration of expatriates and nationals as well as their dependents within the affiliate.

Service Dimensions:

Financial Measure:

  • Efficient management of immigration and visa activities and expenses of about N20m regularly

Unit Measure:

  • Immigration support and intervention to expatriate staff – residents and families, rotational to a stay in
  • accordance with the Nigerian Immigration laws.
  • In constant communication with the Nigerian Immigration Services day to day implementation of expatriates’ immigration status in country

Activities
Immigration facilities:
Assists the PMS Coordinator in liaising with the Nigeria Immigration to obtain facilities such as:

  • Regularization of new arrivals with a resident visa
  • Contributes to the process of obtaining visas for new arrivals to Nigeria.
  • Renewal of existing visa and residence permit & Extension of Business/Tourist visa.
  • Procurement of green cards for expatriates.
  • Procurement of Nigerian passports for Nigerian staff and dependants.

Immigration facilities at Onne site:

  • STR Visa
  • Régularisation of STR visa
  • Monthly Returns
  • Deletion
  • Interventions

Expatriate database follow-up:

  • Inputs data of expatriates and their families on Immigration status tool.
  • Maintains an accurate database for effective retrieval of information and issues reports

Intervention:

  • Assists in solving difficult situations or incidents in the interest of the Company that can occur at the following entry-points: Omagwa International Airport, NAF Base, etc.

Public Relations / Partners:

  • Maintains a good interpersonal relationship with customers – inpatriates and dependants and as well as colleagues and managers through regular communication and contacts.
  • Contributes to maintain good relationship with immigration bodies in Nigeria, especially focused on Port Harcourt based, to ensure an effective good relationship and efficient services.

Reporting:

  • Prepares weekly/monthly/annual immigration reports or any incident.

Cost Efficiency:

  • Ensures compliance with the Group’s Cost Efficiency initiatives.

Others:

  • Documentation for the Biometric Data Capture of expatriates at the NCDMB office in Yenagoa.
  • Gives updates on changes in Immigration rules and policies.
  • Liaises with the finance team on achieving smooth re-imbursements.
  • Coordinates the timely production of the Trombinoscope – A yearly photo book of all expatriates in the affiliate.
  • Carries out any other duties/projects as assigned by the hierarchy

Context and Environment:

  • Compliance with local Rules & immigration policies, necessitating expertise in interpretation of rules, and clear communication with expatriates from different nationalities at the entry and exit points.
  • Stringent immigration policies requiring effective relationship management with immigration authorities.
  • Financial implications of policy changes e.g. 100% increase in cost of CERPAC forms ($1k to $2k).
  • Service provision to expatriates from 27 different nationalities across the company locations (office & site).

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all JV Assets Immigration activities on behalf of all expatriates in the company.
  • Maintains good working relationship on behalf of the company with government parastatals.
  • Assisting Nigerian staff & dependents in obtaining valid Nigerian passports to facilitate their foreign missions, trainings, and vacations.
  • Liaises with the finance team on achieving smooth re-imbursements.
  • Documentation for the Biometric Data Capture for Expatriates at the NCDMB office in Yenagoa.

HSE Objectives:

  • Consistent application of and compliance with TEPNG Company Rules and HSEQ protocols.
  • Drive HSEQ culture and behavior within team and in interactions with employees.

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • A Degree in any of the Social Sciences with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies & procedures.
  • Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • High level of integrity and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and to work under pressure, with minimum supervision,
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools, data management and process tools – HR Direct/SAP/STA
