Principal Manager, Protocol at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is an independent body, established by the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 to undertake technical and economic regulation of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry. The Commission is to, among others license operators, determine operating codes and standards, establish customer rights and obligations and set cost reflective industry tariffs. The Commission has its head quarters in Abuja.

Job Title: Principal Manager, Protocol

Location: Nigeria
Division: Office of the Chairman

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head, Public Affairs Department
  • Maintain and update a register of contact addresses of industry stakeholders
  • Arrange Industry Relations activities of the Commission with other relevant units of licensees.
  • Coordinate events management for the Commission
  • Liaise with vendors and user divisions the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.
  • Arrange general protocol matters between the Commission and other agencies, organisations and MDAs.
  • Provide protocol services for the flight departure and arrival of the Chairman, Commissioners and Commission’s visitors (Airport reception, accommodation, etc).
  • Coordinate hotel accommodations for Commission’s guests
  • Coordinate internal travel logistics for the Commission and liaise with foreign missions in Nigeria on diplomatic and consular issues that affect the operation of the Commission.
  • Procure travel documents for Commission staff and Units and process the payments for procured air tickets, travel insurance and vendors.
  • Develop and review policy direction regarding protocol and passages for the Commission.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Head of Public Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills

  • First Degree in any of the Social Sciences / Humanities or Media / Communication Studies
  • Social media freak, team player, and ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Minimum years of experience: 15 years in a related field
