God’s City International Church is a multicultural church inaugurated on the 1st of May 2016 under the leadership of Pastor Matthew and Pastor Mrs. Mary Morakinyo with an assignment to preach the gospel and with the help of the Holy Spirit, deliver people from sin, sickness, power of darkness, poverty, restoration of destiny and nurture them to be a mobile fire to also carry out the same assignment.

Job Title: Sound Engineer

Location: Jabi, Abuja (FCT)

Overview

  • We are seeking a Sound Engineer. He / She will be responsible for assembling, operating, and maintaining the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix, or reproduce sound in the ministry.
  • He/She will always produce the best possible atmosphere for worship through sound reinforcement. This includes, but is not limited to, creating the best music mix possible, creating an audio “system”, “structure” and mix that meets the message/atmosphere or mood the pastor/worship leader wants to convey, and supporting the audio needs of the people involved with the church service.
  • Ultimately, glorify God through providing excellent audio services.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the audio architecture of the ministry to always meet the audio and sound needs of the Pastor, Choir, Guest Ministers, and all involved in the church service and programmes
  • Set up, maintain, and regularly inspect sound equipment
  • Perform proper line and sound check; includes gain settings, monitor mixes, proper volume settings, and the eq/mixing process.
  • Check with worship leader and pastor for schedule and any schedule changes.
  • Adjusting sound levels during service as needed.
  • Record services and programmes, perform a wide range of post-production “responsibilities”, and create an efficient library for the produced and refined contents.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of video editors, audio visual and lighting personnel, cameramen etc.
  • Perform pre and post production sound edits for a wide range of use, including but not limited to promotional recordings (video and audio)
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans to improve the ministry’s sound architecture.
  • Resolve technical problems when they occur which may cut across all electrical, sound, and audio visual and lighting facilities within the ministry.
  • Provide a distraction-free service as it relates to audio production.
  • Ensure optimal sound on recorded footage
  • Assist in synchronizing video and audio productions.
  • Make recommendations to the church leadership regarding best “stage” and broadcast practices and advise on the procurement of the technical equipment that can be acquired to achieve those practices.
  • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
  • Review the success of programmes and develop ways to improve live and recorded outputs.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by a line manager appointed by the Senior Pastor.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education / equivalent qualifications in an applicable field and other relevant certifications.
  • 3+ years of relevant and verifiable experience.
  • Born-again Christian and hard working.
  • Record of participation in audiovisual projects is advantageous.
  • Practical experience with recording, editing, and mixing software.
  • Familiarity with audio mixing consoles, microphones, and equalizers.
  • A good ear and creative spirit.
  • Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure.
  • Sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Good working knowledge of an array of audio editing software packages.
  • Good, working knowledge of audio video and lighting (AVL) equipment, church broadcast, streaming, and recording software packages to assist with the daily needs of the Technical Department of the Ministry will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Responsive and proactive planner; be able to lead the audio team when needed.
  • Highly adaptable, and receptive to feedback and change.
  • Exhibit good judgment, honesty, integrity, responsibility, and punctuality through the utilization of professional work standards.

  • Reasonable years of experience in sound engineering, recording, and editing methods, and audio equipment
