Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF) is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 91613). Existing since October 2016, AHSF focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in North East Nigeria. AHSF operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its program principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population or increases vulnerability of population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Project Implementation

  • Implement Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) in partnership with the World Food Programme WFP funded project to prevent acute malnutrition among children MAM 24-59-month-old and Pregnant and Lactating Women PLW for host community populations in Rabah, Issa, Illela LGA of Sokoto State.
  • The project will implement different kind of activities to ensure, to prevent acute malnutrition among children 6–59-month old and PLW, for host community populations in Illela, Isa and Rabah by the end of the December 2023
  • To treat Moderate Acute Malnutrition amongst children 6-59months and Pregnant and Lactating Women – PLWs
  • To prevent the nutrition status of vulnerable groups from further deteriorating
  • To strengthened government systems to deliver quality comprehensive management of acute malnutrition-MAM
  • To strengthened community structures to take ownership and facilitate delivery ofcommunity nutrition activities.

Job Summary

  • As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Project Manager will coordinate the development and implementation of quality programs and activities following national, state, funding agency and organization’s guidelines and requirements.
  • S/He will be responsible for providing direction, coordination and support to the Program Team Leads, namely the Team Lead, Advocacy and Policy Influencing Unit and Team Lead, Individual and Community Capacity Strengthening and their team members.
  • The Project Manager will ensure the smooth implementation of projects and the achievement of program objectives and outcomes.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Program Implementation:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and in link with the other sectors ‘ Program Managers, he/ she will provide overall managerial oversight to Food Security and Nutrition programmes and support project implementation team
  • Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, with support of PM, provides leadership and implementation of WFP funded nutrition project
  • Coordinates and supervises the program country strategy implementation
  • Contributing to the design and update of the country strategy by providing inputs to the Executive Director.
  • Visiting AHSF field activities regularly and reporting on problems, challenges and obstacles while building an intimate knowledge of field work realities
  • Ensuring the monitoring and evaluation of the program including the identification of needs and gaps.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the security status of the area(s) of operation on a regular basis, liaising as applicable with local authorities, other NGOs, the UN or other relevant security bodies and keeping the Executive Director updated on relevant developments.
  • Coordinates the over all implementation of the projects
  • Ensuring objectives are met within the required time frame and budget and according to AHSF and donors & rsquo; procedures
  • Taking preventative and corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensuring the overall planning and follow-up of technical reporting for donors, authorities and internal requirements in coordination with the support departments.
  • Ensuring synergy between Technical and Support services
  • Ensuring the implementation of recommendations resulting from internal audit, field visits, HQ advisors, etc.
  • Piloting the internal quality control, by promoting monitoring mechanisms (ex: self-evaluation tool), facilitating internal control and external evaluations.
  • Represents and liaises for operational strategy and program to donors, authorities, UN, NGOs in link with the Executive Director.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, donors, UN agencies and other NGOs) and representing AHSF at relevant state level meetings (e.g. state and local government, sector-coordination and security) in order to facilitate and ensure cooperation and partnerships.
  • Strengthening field and capital level information-sharing with INGOs, NGOs and Government
  • Contributing to the identification of potential funding opportunities.
  • Analyzes Humanitarian needs and response Collecting, summarizing and analyzing information from external sources and from technical advisors for future opportunities.
  • Supporting the coordination team for proposals writing (narrative and financial) to address the identified needs.
  • To ensure cross departmental coordination with food security, nutrition livelihood and early recovery and resilience component

Staff Management and Team Work:

  • Deputize for the Executive Director or other colleagues as required.
  • Facilitate shared learning and joint initiatives about programme implementation of activities.
  • Support the development and realization of program monitoring, evaluation and learning as well as knowledge management outcomes by promoting documentation and sharing of lessons learned.
  • Work with the Executive Director to cultivate and manage donor relationships and partnerships.
  • Nurture an open and collaborative work environment that encourages learning, productivity, accountability, flexibility, respect, non-discrimination and communication.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select qualified program staff.
  • Serve as a non-voting member of the Board Program Committee.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and HR staff to carry out annual performance appraisals of program team members and develop capacity building plans.
  • Treat beneficiaries with dignity and apply UNCEF Code of Ethics and Conduct, the UN Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child(UNCRC) in the field, including sensitizing Field Staffs and vendors /agents on such principles

Position Requirements

  • A Degree in Public Health, International Relations, Nutrition and Dietetics, Gender Studies, International Development or related field. An advanced degree is desirable but not required for this position.
  • 6-7 years of advocacy/program experience required.
  • Experience in influencing the policy and practice of governments and institutions through campaigning, advocacy and/or policy development is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, policy development and fluent written/spoken English
  • Experience working with local NGOs required
  • Experience working and building collaborative relations with members of civil society, government, academia, and the private sector
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative as well as develop and implement programs
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, manage, coach and mentor staff at both individual and collective level.
