Job Overview

  • The Storekeeper/Account Assistant will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s inventory, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials, as well as supporting various accounting tasks.
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Inventory Management:

  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials and supplies accurately.
  • Properly store and organize inventory items, ensuring easy retrieval and accessibility.
  • Perform routine inventory counts and reconciliations to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory reports, including item descriptions, quantities, and locations.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with inventory levels, damages, or quality.
  • Storekeeping:
  • Ensure proper stock rotation by adhering to the “first in, first out” (FIFO) method.
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions when inventory reaches reorder points.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to place orders, track deliveries, and resolve any supply-related issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area, following safety guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential storage hazards or risks.

Accounting Support:

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of transactions.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Provide general administrative support, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and filing documents.
  • Assist in data entry and record-keeping tasks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address inquiries, resolve issues, and facilitate smooth operations.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a storekeeper, inventory clerk, or in a similar role.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items, if required.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to inventory storage.
