Arable Manager (Expatriate – Chinese, Indian Nationals, etc) in an Agricultural Farm

DMOT Enterprises – Our client, an Agricultural farm in Ogun State, is recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Arable Manager (Expatriate – Chinese, Indian Nationals, etc)

Location: Ota, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for maize crop growing and silage production activities.
  • Determine budgets and responsible to deliver budgeted quantity of maize silage.
  • Help the HOD to manage dairy cattle feeding.

Duties and Tasks

  • Plan and direct production of hybrid maize varieties with high yield or disease and insect resistant characteristics.
  • Plant, irrigate, weed, harvest, ensile maize crop and supply budgeted quantity to dairy cattle feeding.
  • Hire, train, direct and coordinate worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and record keeping.
  • Determine machinery requirement, define specifications, help purchase, train local staff, and operate to attain budgeted yield.
  • Make contract with farmers or independent owners for raising of maize crops or for management of crop production.
  • Record information, such as production, farm management practices, and prepare financial and operational reports.
  • Enforce safety regulations and interpret policies.

Qualifications

  • B.Agric or B.Sc (Agric or Agronomy)
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 10 years in Maize farming; Soyabean farming experience too will be an added advantage. Africa / Middle East Africa experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong decision-making.
  • Analytical, Problem-solving and Proactive.
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) a must – English language.
  • The ability to work with local people / farmers.
  • Leadership.
  • Administration skills.
  • Knowledge of key farm equipment’s and related practices – tractors, harvesters, planter, harrow, and plough.
