The Edo State Government through the Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for its Clean and Green Program within the capacity below:

Job Title: Engineering Trainee (Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical)

Location: Benin City, Edo

Details

  • The successful candidates will be trained for 1 (One) year under the scheme.
  • At the end of program, successful candidates will be offered permanent employment with the Edo State Government.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to assist in the development and implementation of urban and regional masterplans.
  • Support in the planning, design and execution of infrastructural projects and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • 3Conduct research, collect data, and analyse information related to urban development, housing initiatives, and infrastructure systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of existing infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to assess project progress, quality control, and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the project team to prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
  • Learn and utilise advanced technology tools and software relevant to the respective engineering disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical).
  • Contribute to the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for infrastructure projects.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies within the respective engineering fields.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel involved in the projects.
  • Conducting research, collating data and submitting to all forms of evaluation during training.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) or HND (minimum of Lower Credit) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in using engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, ETABS, STAAD Pro, Revit, or equivalent.
  • Registration with relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  • Strong interest in urban planning, housing development, and regional development are added advantages.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and practices within the respective disciplines are added advantages.
  • Candidates must possess NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
  • Candidates must be computer literate, with good interpersonal/leadership skills and ability to effectively work in teams.
  • Applicants must be within the ages of 22-30.
  • Experience in the use of CAD&GIS Tools will be added advantage.
