Azman University, Kano obtained its provisional license to operate as a Private University on 15th May, 2023. The University is deeply committed to realizing its dream of a world-class status where research and innovations are the order of the day. Her philosophy is strictly guided by the desire to raise problem solvers for the nation through the production of highly skilled and motivated graduates. This informed the decision of the Governing Council to recruit carefully selected and competent Management Staff with commendable pedigree and international flavor for academic disciplines to ensure that the students are given the best attention and proper guidance throughout their stay at Azman University.

Having received the necessary approval from the Federal Executive Council, Azman University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Librarian

Location: Kano
Employment type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer answerable to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of Library matters in the University.
  • He/she shall be in charge of the management and administration of the university library as well as branch libraries in faculties and centres of the University.
  • He/she shall also be responsible for linkages with other Library organizations and Publishers, both national and international

Requirements
Candidate shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A relevant Ph.D
  • Versatility in information technology (IT) and library automation
  • A good record of scholarly publications through reputable medium.
  • Shall have a minimum of 10 years cognate experience and the capacity to initiate research in a University system or comparable organization
  • Shall not be above the age of 60 years at the point of assumption of duty
  • Membership of relevant professional association is an added advantage.

Terms and Conditions of Service
The Librarian shall hold office on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her instrument of appointment.

 

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Kano
Employment type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • The University Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the university: responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the university.
  • He/she shall provide the university management with appropriate advice and support for all the institutions financial transactions, including investments.

Requirements

  • Prospective candidate must hold a good Bachelor of Science (honors) Degree in Accounting or any other relevant Degree from a recognized university.
  • Such candidate must not be above 60 years of age on assumption
    of duty, and competent in relevant accounting software(s).
  • In addition, he/she must be a full member of at least one of the following professional bodies:
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
      Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN):
  • The applicant must have a minimum of 15 years cognate experience and at least 10 years of which must have been spent in the university system.

The Bursar shall hold office on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her instrument of appointment.

 

 

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Kano
Employment type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • The Registrar, as a Principal Officer, is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the University, except with regards to matters of finance to which the Bursar is responsible.
  • The person holding the office of Registrar shall by Virtue of that office, be Secretary to The Council, the Senate, the Congregation and Convocation.

Requirements

  • Candidates should have minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University.
  • Possession of postgraduate qualification and membership of professional bodies would be an added advantage.
  • Candidate must have at least fifteen (15) years administrative experience and at least ten (10) of which must be at University level.
  • Candidates must be 60 years or below on appointment and must be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant.
  • Candidates must command respect and have the ability to provide leadership and offer appropriate advice on matters affecting the University.

Job Title: Vice-Chancellor

Location: Kano
Employment type: Full Time

Responsibilities
The functions of the Vice-Chancellor of Azman University shall be to:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the University through policy foundation, development and implementation to ensure accountability and responsibility for efficient and effective compliance with the University Law, statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Be the designated officer in respect of funding provided to the University by the Proprietor and other sources of fund in the University;
  • Promote and advance the vision, mission and objects of the University:
  • Take a proactive role in facilitating and encouraging cooperation and collaboration among all organs of the University:
  • Ensure activities of the institution support the strategic plan of the University:
  • Prepare annual estimates of income and expenditure in line with the strategic plans of the University;
  • Manage resources within the approved estimates in accordance with the provisions of the law and statutes of the University;
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned or referred to him by the Governing Council.

Requirements

  • Applicants for the position of Vice-Chancellor, Azman University, Kano must be distinguished scholars with outstanding academic and administrative records.
  • He/she must be a proven manager of human and material resources. Specifically, the candidate should be a Professor of not less than five (5) years standing by the time of assumption and must have worked in university system for an uninterrupted period of 10 years with ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University.

Furthermore, the candidate should:

  • Have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University.
  • Be of a strong academic standing as evidenced by the publications of books and research in high impact journals.
  • Be able to attract research grants and complimentary funds from local and international agencies, and uplift the academic status of the University.
  • Possess personal integrity in the management of funds and be able to deploy financial resources as appropriate within the context of the University’s strategic plan.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students and members of the University Community and its stakeholders.
  • Have demonstrable abilities to establish and maintain partnerships with local, international, government and non-governmental agencies and organizations.
  • Be an individual who is likely to command the respect as well as the loyalty of members of staff and the University Community.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to attract, motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff
  • Be able to exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra statutory funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Should be in a position to ensure the enforcement of the University’s laws and regulations.
  • Be information and technology proficient and be committed to its use as a management tool and its development in the University programmes and services.
  • Be of excellent physical and mental health.
  • Must not be more than 65 years of age by the time of assumption.

Terms and Conditions of Service
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her instrument of appointment.

  • Names and addresses of three (3) referees who should be able to attest to the candidate’s academic and managerial abilities as well as his/her moral character and uprightness.
