We enable payments online in local African currencies and can handle the last-mile logistics for our retail partners too. Statistically, Africa is the future, so we believe consumers on the continent should have the same frictionless access to the global e-commerce economy as consumers in the West.

Klasha was founded in Lagos, Nigeria in 2018 and is backed by Techstars, Ginco Investments and a group of notable angel investors. Klasha is run by 20-somethings from five nationalities that speak six different languages between them. Klasha has offices in Johannesburg, South Africa and Lagos, Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Business Development Manager

About the role

  • Klasha is in search of a Business Development Manager, who will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, consulting, and closing new opportunities for Klasha within their assigned markets and targeted verticals with the goal of increasing the customer base and revenues.
  • The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering the growth targets through an efficient and scalable sales process, significant sales operations and building a solid B2B sales pipeline.
  • As such, the individual must be self-motivated and driven to succeed.

Responsibilities
What you will be doing:

  • Secure market penetration for Klasha in assigned verticals.
  • Design, execute and regularly refine a prospective client lead generation and follow-up process, which leads to high client meetings rate and ultimately conversion rate.
  • Generate new ideas and methods for lead generation, client prospecting and acquisition.
  • Position yourself as a subject matter expert and valued asset to potential customers.
  • Perform outbound lead generation and inbound lead conversion for ideal customer profiles and buyer personas.
  • Develop and manage a sales pipeline, promoting and representing the Klasha brand and services to prospective clients.
  • Clearly communicate the value proposition, differentiation points and market positioning.
  • Prepare for tailored customer engagements and deliver effective sales demonstrations and presentations with key decision makers, while ensuring high closing rate.
  • Utilise marketing and sales data to optimise efforts.
  • Participate in industry trade shows and corporate events.

Requirements
You should apply if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5 years of relevant sales experience, preferably in the fintech industry and in a front line sales position with a successful sales track record.
  • Good knowledge of cross-border payments and the wider industry (e-commerce, B2B ecosystems, emerging disruptive technology) will be a significant advantage for the right candidate.
  • Ability to articulate each platform’s target product/service opportunity to customers and talk to solutions rather than product features.
  • Strong experience in Face-to-Face business development and commercial and relationship development.
  • Have strong influencing and negotiating skills.

2.) Finance & Accounting Lead

About the role

  • We are seeking to hire a proactive and dynamic candidate for the role of Finance & Accounting Lead who will, amongst other things, be tasked with monitoring, communicating, and shaping our financial health.
  • Working closely with our CEO and Department Heads, the successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a first-rate Finance vertical.
  • As a Seed-stage startup, you will be comfortable wearing multiple hats, this position requires the ability to work independently, communicate complex concepts in concise terms, prioritise tasks, and work with various departments efficiently.

Job Description

  • Liquidity and treasury management, overseeing Klasha’s financial resources to help meet wider business objectives.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
  • Oversee operations of the Finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure the appropriate monitoring of Company finances is maintained
  • Analyse costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
  • Develop trends and projections for Klasha’s finances.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction/optimisation opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related course
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably in payments and/or fintech
  • CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalently certified
  • Deep domain understanding of the African payments ecosystem
  • Significant exposure to Treasury Management, FP&A and reconciliation
  • Experience working globally
  • Automation savvy, with proficiency in analytics and wider tooling.
  • Ability to execute root cause analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to identify and defend data-driven recommendations.
  • A charismatic relationship builder, able to win the trust of external and internal partners alike
  • High level of determination and tenacity.

3.) Finance Associate – Payments

  • Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will play a key role in budget planning, financial forecasting, and conducting in-depth financial analyses.
  • This role offers the opportunity for exposure to various finance operations, including treasury functions, and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Job Description

  • Assist the Head of Finance in budget planning and management activities, including financial forecasting.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to inform strategic business decisions and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements, ensuring timely and accurate communication of the company’s financial position to relevant stakeholders.
  • Gain exposure to treasury functions, enhancing understanding of cash management, investment and debt management, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Reconciliation Analyst to ensure accurate and complete financial records, coordinating regularly to verify transaction data.
  • Depending on organisational needs, may specialise in specific areas such as taxation, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc. Responsibilities will adapt to accommodate these specialisations as required.

4.) Software Engineer (Backend)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Frontend Engineers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
  • Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
  • Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle.
  • Define and communicate technical and design requirements.
  • Provide training, help and support to other team members.
  • Build high-quality reusable code that can be used in the future.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a Fintech startup environment
  • Fluent application of Java (JDK version), Spring boot, Eureka, Zuul.
  • Familiarity with Github, Hibernate, Apache Kafka, Postgresql.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with a group.
  • Ability to move fast and adapt as the business requires.
  • Knowledge of Design Patterns
  • Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
