Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) – Buoyed by a mission to redefine customer experience and be the provider of choice wherever energy is consumed, the Ikeja Electric (IE), Nigeria’s largest power distribution network, came into existence on November 1st, 2013 following the handover of the defunct Power Holding Company Of Nigeria (PHCN) to NEDC/ KEPCO Consortium under the privatization scheme of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Analyst – Network & Communications

Role Purpose

  • The Senior IT Infrastructure Analyst – Network & Communications at Ikeja Electric will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing our network and communications systems.
  • This pivotal role involves ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for our network infrastructure.
  • Additionally, the incumbent will oversee communication tools and platforms, fostering seamless internal and external communication to support the company’s operations and customer interactions.
  • As a key member of our IT team, you will contribute to the foundation that drives Ikeja Electric’s technological excellence and customer-centric approach.

Role Accountabilities

  • Implementation, support, monitoring and maintenance of IE Data Centre and other site infrastructure and services, including but not limited to LAN and WAN services, telephony services, electrical supply (UPS, inverter), cooling and fire suppressant systems and ensuring availability of infrastructure services.
  • Proactive support of WAN/LAN/Data Centre, Wireless and related technologies growth with a focus on reliability and dependability ensuring 24×7 availability.
  • Ensure all IT network and communications services are designed and configured to achieve maximum uptime.
  • Ensure all IT network and communications services are monitored, backed up, secured, and documented.
  • Perform regular maintenance on all network and communications platforms to ensure patching is up to date and secured.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for network/system administration tasks.
  • Ensure all network and communications services comply with Ikeja Electric Policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide strong customer service and assist with facilitation and collaboration between project teams and IT as applicable.
  • Work closely with our other support team/units to ensure network connectivity requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Internet & Network, Firewalls, Data Centre Infrastructure, Access Points Availability & Stability in all Business Locations.
  • Ensure capturing and closure of all Incidents and Service request tickets within SLA on the ITSM platform. Also, ensure timely documentation and closure of Change requests tickets on the ITSM platform.
  • Ensure all data services are appropriately sized to support the business needs (capacity management)
  • Research and evaluate new network technologies to improve available features and meet the changing business needs
  • Resolution of tickets placed assigned to the Network and Communication team.
  • Work with key vendors like Cisco, Huawei, Palo Alto, and F5 to fix any issues that cannot be solved internally.
  • Responsible for logging incident, service request and change management tickets in the IT Service Management tool as need arises.
  • Ensure project work and changes are successfully planned, implemented, and tested
  • Standardize Infrastructure processes, procedures, and equipment for all supported services.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies and mentor Junior Analysts.
  • Develop operational, installation, configuration and upgrade documentation for communication systems, hardware, network, and security.
  • Carry out any additional duties as requested by IT Management.

Minimum Requirements

  • First Degree (M. Tech./B. Sc. in Information Technology or Computer Science or any other related field).
  • 5 – 8 years’ hands-on experience supporting Cisco and Huawei networking and associated technologies within a reputable organization.
  • Must have at least two or more of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCNP Specialist, CCNP Security, CCIE, Huawei Certified Network Associate. CCNA is mandatory.
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN, WAN, and Wireless technologies and associated networking protocols -SD WAN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Knowledge of IPv6 addressing scheme.
  • Experience with working in an ITIL driven environment
  • Intermediate experience with DCIM, Excel, Visio and PRTG
  • Experience in Data Centre Management
  • Hands-on experience with Firewalls and other network security solutions Alien Vault, Portnox, Kali Linux, Palo Alto and Sophos will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of network security and data centre best practices.
