Field Operations Supervisor – Otumara Node at Vagan Oil & Gas Limited

The company core area of operation is to provide a broad spectrum of services ranging from Engineering, Pipeline & Flowline Construction / Repairs, Facility piping and maintenance, Wellhead & Christmas tree maintenance and servicing, Composite wrap technology, Equipment & Offshore/Marine Supplies, etc.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Field Operations Supervisor – Otumara Node

Location: Delta
Employment Type: Full-time
Start Date: 1st March 2024

Roles and Responsibilities
The Field Operator Supervisor will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead a team of operators to deliver simple and complex activities in the plant.
  • Competent in PTW management and administration.
  • Prepare Worksite for safe execution of Maintenance & Operations activities.
  • Management of facility shutdown & Isolation process.
  • Apply the emergency response procedure where and when necessary.
  • Knowledgeable about the Shell’s MOPO & SIMOPS in Management of concurrent activities in Otumara/Escravos Node fields.
  • Monitor HSE performance key indicators and ensure targets are achieved, report incidents (UA/UC/Near Misses) for tracking and closeout.
  • Process optimization and make Proposals for Improvement and follow through to achieve benefits.
  • Participate in internal audits and ensure resulting action items are completed within agreed timeline.
  • Apply the HSSE policy, legislations applicable to crude oil transfer and export.
  • Adherence to plant operational procedures using SOP’s.
  • Supervision of contractors for compliance with all relevant HSE procedures.
  • Maintain status records of all wellheads in the field & good housekeeping of Well Head Platforms/Locations.
  • Management of SHOC Cards to ensure correct and specific SHOC cards are available on site.
  • Monitor, control and record production rates and performance.
  • Start-up wells and facilities (hot and cold start).
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on wells and facilities to ensure stability.
  • Perform daily First Line Monitoring (FLM) of process variables/parameters.
  • Gather daily production data, determine the production performance.
  • Participate in console review meeting, Daily notification and YTT review meeting.
  • Prepare daily production report for Daily Production Review (DPR)
  • Execute daily communication and Shift handover.
  • Ensure optimized chemical injection rates are followed as advised.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to execute planned activities.
  • Perform monthly well test and sampling of producing wells and MER test as scheduled.
  • Perform periodic well integrity assurance tasks and activities.
  • Supervise preparation of equipment for maintenance including isolation, draining, steaming, and other procedures as required.
  • Bean inspection/change out and Bean inventory management.
  • Good knowledge of Ensure Safe production (ESP) – Proactive monitoring and alarm management.
  • Skill in operation of Gas Dehydration & Gas Dew pointing Systems – Glycol regeneration Unit and Low Temperature Separator units.
  • Skill in Compressor operation and Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s / HND / OND / IVQ LEVEL 5 or equivalent in any Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Age: 60 years.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years working as a field operations support, technician or permit coordinator in an oil and gas producing field location.
  • Must have at least five (5) years’ experience in Otumara Node SPDC.

Skills (Added Advantage):

  • Ability to read and interpret Process/Utility Engineering Flow Schemes (PEFS/UEFS) and process drawings.
  • Skill level at PTW management/Coordination.
  • Basic understanding of Distributed control system (Delta V).
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  • Problem-solving and good analytical skills.
  • Self-Motivated and performs under minimal supervision
  • Demonstration of a full knowledge of wellhead systems & integrity management (installation, completion and testing of various components and seals)
  • Experience in oil wellhead operations and troubleshooting skills.
  • A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.

Work Cycle

  • The work location is Otumara Node based in SPDC West Asset accessible via Air or Water.
  • The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (7am to7pm) routine over a 21-day period.
  • There is a standard 3-weeks on and 3-weeks off schedule.
  • The successful candidate will manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers.
  • There may be need for periodic visits to Shell industrial area for trainings and official assignments.
  • Personnel may be required to occasionally work extended hours as need arises.
