Job Summary

  • To lead and manage the operational performance of the Finance department, ensuring the successful delivery of business strategies and objectives through strong leadership and commercial focus, excellent communication and customer service, regulatory compliance and a robust system of internal controls and policies, acting as Finance Business Partner to individual projects and the organization.
  • To manage the efficient and effective day to day running of the Finance department and develop the team to ensure the department has sufficient knowledge, skills, experience and capacity to meet the requirements of the business and any other ‘Businesses’ under the remit of Rapid Rentals Limited;
  • To be responsible for ensuring that financial information is provided in a clear, timely and accurate manner to support and influence decision making and satisfying all reporting requirements.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management Specific Responsibilities: Implementing the Finance department strategy, to ensure that it meets the business requirements and customer deliverables, as well as ensuring the departmental performances against goals.
  • Leading, managing and developing the Finance team, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Identifying, implementing and monitoring departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with business objectives and, in order to continuously improve departmental performance.
  • Analysing monthly/yearly performances, comparing results with budgets, advising on necessary measure to achieve corporate goals.
  • Liaising with the MD regarding all non-budgeted costs and Capex requirements.
  • Liaising regularly with all managers to ensure consistency of service delivery across the business, in line with agreed business objectives.
  • Challenging existing methods and presenting alternatives, continually improving internal systems.
  • Providing a long term vision of finance management in line with market changes and company expansion.
  • Leading by example at all times, providing support, encouragement and help where needed to other members of the Finance team.
  • Developing personal development plans for direct reports within the department
  • Dealing with day to day departmental staff (direct reports) matters and all related administration.
  • Delivering on the job staff training, as and when required.
  • Overall responsibility for all departmental administration.
  • Promoting the business e.g. attendance at conferences, presentations to external parties, etc.
  • Keeping up to date with all legislative and industry guidance/best practice and advising management of key changes.
  • Overseeing the departmental workload, ensuring that all Finance department activities are performed in support of customer service.
  • Ensuring safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety.
  • Writing, reviewing, amending, approving and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensures regulatory compliance in conjunction with being ‘fit for purpose’ operationally and commercially.
  • Briefing the Finance team on any company matters and/or specific departmental matters.
  • Managing, motivating, coaching and mentoring the Finance team.
  • Managing and implementing projects, both within the department and across the business.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing the Finance strategy, to ensure that it meets the business requirements and customer deliverables.
  • Advising management on dividend decisions and proffering the best financing options for available viable business opportunities.
  • Leading, managing and developing direct reports (Finance staff) within the Finance team, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Managing, motivating, coaching and mentoring direct reports, to higher levels of management capability.
  • Review and monitor all management/financial accounts for Rapid Rentals’. Ensuring a high level of financial control across the businesses.
  • Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the businesses financial affairs.
  • Creation of Financial models (including e.g. tenders, pricing, discounts) to assist decision making, to enhance financial control and company performance.
  • Overseeing the processing of all financial information (i.e. accruals, prepayments) to the accounting systems, ensuring that all information are processed in readiness for the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
  • Enforce an efficient system of management of funds, including working capital administration, in line with corporate goals.
  • Appraising investment options and allocating funds based on profitability Index and corporate goals.
  • Ensuring that all financial and other policies and procedures are communicated internally and strictly adhered to.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders regarding financial matters, including tax, audit and other statutory requirements.
  • Oversee cash and asset management.
  • Identifying, implementing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with business objectives, including the co-ordination and analysis of business data.
  • Challenging existing methods and presenting alternatives, continually improving internal systems.
  • Eliminating internal financial and non-financial risks within the businesses e.g. fraud and/or theft.
  • Ensuring adequate segregation of duty is in place to eliminate fraud/theft.
  • Assessing the risks and opportunities to the business of any new and existing commercial activities.
  • Building relationships with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and liaising regularly with all managers to ensure consistency of service delivery across the business, in line with agreed business objectives.
  • Communicating and liaising with key stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives.
  • Managing queries from the Finance team and other staff/departments on all financial matters.
  • Ensuring the continuous development of accounting processes and reporting to improve efficiency and support business decision making.
  • Prepare business plans/recommendations (including all associated costs and forecasted revenue for the business), to ensure that all business development opportunities (new products, services and markets) are optimized.
  • Calculating and evaluating the financial impact of all business activities/projects, current and new.
  • Maintaining an awareness of external factors (including competitors, government business initiatives, current and proposed legislation in relation to commercial activities) which impact the business.
  • Acting as the main point of contact on high level financial matters, internally and externally.
  • Preparing the businesses annual budget process and managing/controlling the actual results against the budgets throughout the financial period.
  • Perform the role of Finance Manager during periods of absence, this will typically include:
  • Ad hoc projects, as and when required by the MD.

Key Performance Index

  • Quality and timeliness of reports produced by the Finance department in alignment with business activities and decision making processes within the organisation.
  • Adequacy of financial and operational controls put in place within the organisation, and its effectiveness towards risk identification, risk reporting and risk management.
  • Efficiency of working capital management, ensuring that short term obligations are met as and when due in line with management goals.
  • Efficiency of system of allocation of funds, effect on the ultimate achievement of corporate goals.
  • Level of support administered to the business, including internal and external stakeholders of Rapid Rentals Limited.
  • Level of compliance to internal processes and procedures as set by the management in line with business goals and objectives
  • Level of skill and knowledge of Finance team
  • Extent of regulatory and statutory compliance on financial matters within the RFG.

Requirements for this Job
Key Skills and Requirements:

  • 5 years experience with an impressive, demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s).
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Qualified – ACA, ACCA
  • Ability to work accurately in a busy demanding environment, whilst adhering to stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain high standards.
  • First class planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • High level of integrity.

  • Experience of identifying key trends high volume/complex data sets and communicate this is in a clear, simple way.
  • Excellent presentation skills (written and verbal).

  • Self-motivated and forward thinking with drive and determination.

Salary
N400,000 – N500,000 Monthly.
