Project Officer at Oxfam Nigeria

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Project Officer

Location: Taraba
Internal Job Grade: D1
Contract type: Fixed term – 6 months
Department: Programs

Responsibilities

  • Program Support: Assist the Project Coordinator in planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities to ensure they are in line with project objectives and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with & support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and trainings with government officials, community-based organizations, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure project success. Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building: Support the organization and facilitation of training sessions for project staff, government officials, and community members on relevant project topics and methodologies.
  • VSLA Group Formation and Management: Support the formation of savings and loans groups within the community. Support monitoring of meetings of the groups, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
  • Gender and Social Inclusion: Ensure that project activities are gender-sensitive and inclusive of marginalized groups, particularly women and vulnerable rural populations.
  • Networking and collaboration: Establish and maintain relationships with local partners, NGOs, financial institutions, and government agencies to facilitate collaboration and enhance the reach and impact of savings and loan programs. Attend relevant community meetings and represent the organization in external forums.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in the documentation and reporting of project activities, including preparing regular progress reports, success stories, and lessons learned. Present project updates and findings to the project team.
  • Data Management: Collect, organize, analyse, and manage data related to project activities, beneficiaries, and outcomes for monitoring and evaluation purposes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Administrative Support: Support the Project Coordinator, including organizing meetings, managing logistics, and maintaining project documentation.

Experience, Knowledge & Competencies
Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in project implementation, preferably in the agriculture or development sector.

Key Attributes:

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in English and any local languages spoken in Taraba State would be an advantage. Fluency in local languages is desired.
  • Ability to travel to project sites within Taraba State as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analysis software.
  • Understanding of gender and social inclusion issues in development programming is desirable.
