Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to the final figures.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with project managers to ensure profitability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with legal and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Analyze and evaluate potential cost-saving measures and alternatives.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall financial objectives.
  • Regularly monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for cost control.

Tendering Process:

  • Prepare and analyze tender documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Evaluate and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Assist in the selection of subcontractors through the tendering process.

Contract Administration:

  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Prepare and issue contractual correspondence, variations, and claims.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to address contractual matters.

Final Accounts and Project Closeout:

  • Prepare and negotiate final accounts with contractors and clients.
  • Facilitate project closeout processes, including final financial reviews.

Quantity Take-Offs:

  • Conduct accurate quantity take-offs for materials and labour.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure accurate measurements.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about relevant construction regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that projects comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks related to costs, contracts, and project execution.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Value Engineering:

  • Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
  • Advise on cost-effective design alternatives.

Cost Reporting:

  • Generate regular cost reports for project stakeholders.
  • Communicate cost-related information to project teams and management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2 – 3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in relevant software.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Good knowledge of construction costs, contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

Salary
N220,000 Monthly.
