We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Software Developer

Location: Asokoro, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop the web version of our application, ensuring cross-platform compatibility and responsiveness.
  • Establish and guide the website version of organization’s application architecture.
  • Ensure high performance and availability, and manage all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for web-related issues
  • Facilitate code reviews and contribute to overall codebase quality
  • Design and Develop Web Applications:Translate user stories and design mock-ups into functional web applications using programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and potentially back-end languages like Python, Java, or PHP.
  • Front-End Development:Focus on the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the web application, ensuring it’s visually appealing, easy to navigate, and responsive across different devices (desktop, mobile, tablet).
  • Back-End Development (if applicable):Build and maintain the server-side logic of the application, handling data storage, retrieval, and communication with databases and APIs.
  • Integration and Testing:Integrate various application components, write unit tests to ensure functionality, and conduct thorough quality assurance (QA) testing before deployment.
  • Maintenance and Updates:Fix bugs, troubleshoot issues, and implement new features based on user feedback and evolving requirements.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with design team to ensure the application meets all objectives and integrates seamlessly with existing systems.
  • Work closely with the relevant team to maintain consistency across platforms and enhance the overall user experience.
  • Stay Updated:Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks to stay current in the fast-paced web development field.

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Minimum of HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred, but not always required for strong self-taught candidates).
  • The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant working experience in web application design.
  • Proven experience as a web application development
  • Knowledge of existing inbuilt WordPress functions as well as the ability to customize WordPress to support specific functionality, create custom post types and create plugins/widgets written to conform to WordPress coding standards
  • Familiar with cPanel configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience creating multilingual websites
  • Good understanding of cross-platform and cross-browser issues
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
  • Experience with API integration.
  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and JavaScript) front-end development) and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, color, and font choices, and so on)
  • Experience of back-end technologies and databases (a plus).
  • Experience with web application frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) can be beneficial.
  • Experience with responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred
  • Must possess extensive knowledge and experience in building WordPress CMS websites using the best practice & de-facto standard plugins
  • Experience working with WordPress at a PHP code level
  • Cloud computing knowledge (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Must possess a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layouts and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Experience with server-side programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Ruby) and frameworks
  • Familiarity with web security principles and best practices
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
  • Knowledge of different PHP frameworks, libraries, or any other technology relevant to WordPress Multisite
