We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nurse

Location: Borno
Slot: 3 Openings
Reporting to: Clinical Supervisor

Role Purpose

  • INTERSOS is looking for a Nurse to provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients according to the protocols applied and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the beneficiaries.
  • To undertake health programme activities guaranteeing the efficient and effective sensitization, mobilization and participation of the targeted communities, thereby maximizing programme performance.
  • The nurse shall ensure that supportive supervision is given to the community mobilizers, Health Assistants, guidelines set in the health protocols are followed during programme implementation.
  • The nurse shall also ensure that every beneficiary receives adequate medical examination, the required routine and prescribed medication and referral for additional treatment, as appropriate and according to the protocols.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Knowing, promoting, implementing and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment in the targeted HF and in the mobile clinic. Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality at all times.
  • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, performing consultations and other minor medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family when necessary.
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed ;
  • Be available to oversee screening, treatment and follow up of malnourished patients in the field sites when called upon.
  • Ability to head the outreach and hygiene promotion team and guide community health volunteers from time to time
  • Participate in planning and undertaking health surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the health program activities
  • Responsible for providing inputs and data for monthly health activities’ reports in timely manner.
  • Participate and update progress in weekly technical meeting with health staff.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping, ordering and accountability of health equipment, supplies and drugs (Participating in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (quality and its functioning, storage conditions, follow-up of expired drugs inventories, stock takes of medicines and material , etc.)
  • Ensure the quality of the health service given in all different locations meet the expected standards.
  • Responsibility for the day to day management of project site activities and staff.
  • Conduct trainings to build the capacity of staff/volunteers, MoH staff and the community at large.
  • Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Diploma in Nutrition will be and additional advantage
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience in a similar environment as the project sites above
  • Possession of a valid practicing certificate
  • Experience in implementation of nutrition program will be an additional advantage
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Manages effectively his/her own time as well as flexible and available to work overtime when needed
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri and Hausa Languages

Job Title: M & E Officer

Locations: Bama, Dikwa, Ngala, Magumeri and Monguno – Borno
Reporting to: M & E Manager
Supervision of: Case Workers

Role Purpose

  • The main purpose of the role is to Support INTERSOS Programs in data collection, analysis, and learning activities to ensure accountability and efficiency. Reporting to the M&E Manager and closely working with program and front-line staff.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning and undertaking surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the program activities especially in relation to WASH, NFIs, Shelter and Protection.
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring better data management systems for the core programs s/he assigned for and coordinates the proper and timely evaluation of project objectives/impact.
  • Ensure all programs have accountability mechanisms and works with project staff to make sure its implementation.
  • Regularly collecting and compiling Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) data and producing summary monitoring reports.
  • Conduct regular data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
  • Participate in monitoring of all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output and outcomes.
  • Participate in development and strengthening monitoring and impact indicator for the project success.
  • Provide feedback to the Program Managers on project activities.
  • Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress on all project activities to the Program Managers.
  • Conduct capacity assessment on existing monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Organize training for front-line and program staff regarding monitoring tools.
  • Coordinate the field level community participatory monitoring and evaluation, reflective practice and impact measurement.
  • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the Program Managers in preparing relevant reports.
  • Assist the project personnel with M&E tools and in supporting them in their use.
  • Perform other duties as delegated.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in the design and implementation of M&E in development and emergency projects.
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports.
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software.
  • Ability to work independently and make good decisions with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent command of English and local language oral and written.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.

Job Title: Case Worker

Reporting to: Case Worker Team Leader
Supervision of: Protection Community Volunteers

Role Purpose

  • The Case Worker is responsible for assessing women and children’s immediate needs, developing immediate care and treatment goals, and implementing and monitoring women and children clients’ care action plans.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily contact with the community based social workers/monitoring Officers to gather information on cases requiring support;
  • Provide appropriate and timely case management by creating a climate of trust and care, conduct introduction and first intake assessment, case action planning and implementing the action plan steps, case follow up and case closure as per agreed standards;
  • Provide basic emotional support (based on the IASC MHPSS guidelines pyramid) for each case and for their close family members, as required;
  • Conduct individual assessments for the provision of material assistance, shelter kit and dignity kit or/and transportation costs for medical treatment, as required;
  • Refer clients to appropriate services and when necessary directly accompany them to different service providers;
  • Support the local NGO/CSO partner case workers to improve case management in target areas;
  • Lead weekly internal case management meetings and make prompt reports/bring to the immediate attention any case of special/emergency needs to the Protection Officer;
  • Conduct with the service mapping assessment in the target areas and support the development of referral systems with different service providers and the local NGO/CSO partner;
  • Develop good relationships and coordination with service providers and community stakeholders to improve identification and provide adequate referral information;
  • Plan and conduct service awareness with the Protection Officer and local NGO/CSO partner;
  • Support the Protection Officer to prepare monthly report on activities and conduct site visits to verify and assess activity implementation and the quality of services clients are referred to;
  • Identify and report gaps in the availability of services and quality of service provision for clients in the target areas.

Job Title: Case Worker Team Leader

Supervision of: Case Workers

Role Purpose

  • The Case Worker Team Leader is responsible for supervising and managing a team of Case Workers, ensuring that principles of case management are respected and that quality services are guaranteed to persons with protection concerns
  • Support and coach Case Workers throughout the case management process and directly handle complex vulnerable cases as needed.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, implementation and reporting of the activities, as well as ensuring the well- being and positive working environment for all members of the team. Support positive team dynamics providing support and space for caseworkers to express emotions and experiences within the case management team
  • Meet regularly with Protection Officer to discuss about ongoing issues and strategy for the team.
  • Flag issues concerning security and changes of environment in the field and support identification of appropriate responses.
  • Supervise, support and coach Case Workers in their duties using various methods such as observation, shadowing, case file checks and bilateral case discussions and support the team in finding solutions and appropriate responses to daily challenges.
  • Act as referral focal point for INTERSOS case management in the geographical area of coverage under her/his responsibility and distribute the cases between the Case Workers according to the level of experience and complexity of case. Ensure equal division of workload, timely follow up of target and flag issues of overload of caseworkers to Protection Officer ensuring proper handover between the caseworkers if needed.
  • Ensure adherence of Case Workers to protection principles, Code of Conducts and internal SoPs. Conduct regular case audits to ensure that cases meet and maintain compliance with established SoPs and minimum standards in case management
  • Monitor timescales for response, decision-making and follow-up through internal case management platform and according to priority of case ensuring timely and appropriate support
  • Supervise the accuracy of the cases documentation through regular review of files and case management platform and provide feedback to Case Workers. Overview the proper filing and archiving of case management files to maintain data confidentiality
  • Review regularly staffs caseloads to ensure the quality of the case management and the respect of the minimum standards (not more than 25 cases at a time)
  • Schedule and facilitate regular case management meetings with Case Workers to discuss single cases and challenges
  • Identify staff gaps and training needs and inform the Protection Officer for the actions needed
  • Identify and analyse protection trends in the overall caseload for the protection programming
  • Participate to external meetings and trainings about case management and to conferences with partners when required
  • Respect key protection principles including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
  • Contribute to regular service mapping and update of service directory
  • Collect and report Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) data
  • Ensure good relationships and coordination with the main service providers in the area of intervention for the identification of specific needs in order to provide prompt referral, follow up and information sharing.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University Degree in a related field e.g. Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant work experience including 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Leadership, people management and development, teamwork and cooperation
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) and Reporting skills
