Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

The Role

  • Reporting to the Head of Laboratory Department, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible to work with the Laboratory Scientist and other staff on using lab equipment to study and analyze various samples and specimens to search for abnormalities and determine their causes, while maintaining lab safety protocols and documenting findings in lab systems. The incumbent will collaborate with other lab staff to achieve departmental goal.
  • The Laboratory Technician’s duties include performing routine and specialized tests, conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments, preparing and staining slides for analysis, performing phlebotomy, recording testing information, cleaning and restocking the laboratory facility, keeping inventory, and ordering laboratory supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments
  • Planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials
  • Recording and analyzing laboratory data.
  • Collecting, preparing and/or testing samples
  • Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility of the equipment
  • Providing technical support

Qualifications

  • OND in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Current license from MLSCN
  • Good Team Player
  • Good Interpersonal Skills
  • 1+ years proven experience as a Laboratory Technician
  • Computer knowledge is mandatory
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

The Role

  • Reporting to the Head of Laboratory Department, the Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for using laboratory equipment to study and analyze various samples and specimens, to search for abnormalities and determine their causes, while maintaining lab safety protocols and documenting findings in lab systems. The incumbent will collaborate with other lab staff and may work with potentially dangerous viruses and bacteria.
  • Some of the duties of the Medical Laboratory Scientist includes performing complex tests on patient samples using sophisticated laboratory equipment, executing standardized tests such as bacteriological, chemical, and microscopic examination. Establishing quality assurance programs to monitor and ensure the accuracy of test results.

Responsibilities

  • The medical Laboratory Scientist executes a range of standardized microscopic, chemical and bacteriological test including nucleic acid extraction from pathogenic cultures, RT-PCR and qPCR analyses.
  • They take part in collecting samples which includes collecting urine, blood and other samples. They also counsel patients on pre-test requirements and answer questions related to testing.
  • The Laboratory Scientists also assess the validity of a result that are obtained, preserves proper records of the results and makes a report of results. Make sure that the testing method used follows established quality control procedure and assists with the preparation of laboratory reports.
  • Organizes and maintains reagents and equipment’s. They perform maintenance on equipment’s in the laboratory and keeps laboratory in a clean and organized condition.
  • To make use of the laboratory computer systems to place testing data, generate reports of testing results and search for test results for physicians.
  • Planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
  • To maintain and follow Good Laboratory Practices.

Job Title: Data & Administration Officer (Laboratory)

The Role

  • Reporting to the Head of Laboratory Department, the Data & Admin Officer is a professional who carries out data entry admin functions of the department. The incumbent will carry out a range of responsibilities ranging from information management, general administration and proper data management administration.
  • The Data & Admin officer duties include inventory management, organizing departmental records, roster scheduling, budget and department reporting, invoicing, and customer service. The incumbent manages and update departmental data.
  • The Data & Admin officer manages daily office operations, provide support to staff, and complete clerical tasks of all types, improving the departmental functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule meetings, and maintain agendas.
  • Coordinate training sessions in the department.
  • Ensure functionality of necessary office equipment, and requisitioning new equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Monitoring and maintaining office equipment and inventory supplies; orders replacement supplies as needed.
  • Preparing reports on expenses, supplies, office budgets, and other expenditures
  • Handle data management and administration duties of the department
  • Support other assigned functions.
  • Documenting and monitoring departmental supplies.
  • Preparing correspondence, documentation, or presentation materials
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest admin trends and best practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Business Administration or any related course
  • 2 years of experience as an Admin officer.
  • Proficient with Healthcare Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Impeccable attention to details.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn how to use standard office equipment, such as fax machines, modern phone systems, and copy machines
  • Comfortable working independently when needed, or as part of a team
  • Highly motivated team player is willing to go the extra mile.
