Job Title: Instructional Designer

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

About the Job
Who we’re looking for:

  • We are looking for an instructional designer who is ideas-driven, proficient with setting up on-demand courses on the LMS, good with course curriculum development, comes from a teaching or training background and is passionate about making learning an invigorating and empowering experience.

Responsibilities
On this Job, you will be required to:

  • Design a variety of instructional materials for traditional instructor-led courses, online programs, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed.
  • Develop on-demand courses on a Learning Management System (LMS) with integrated learning assessment tools.
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs
  • Develop materials for courses based on information provided by subject matter experts and instructors to create the best learning experience possible
  • Use your experience in Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic (VAK) learning style, social and mobile learning, and curriculum design to build and improve e-learning, instructor-led, and blended approach learning intervention
  • Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.)
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of our courses
  • Create realistic objectives for learning or performance for the training delegates and facilitators.
  • Redesign courses for virtual training programmes that are engaging while still adhering to our value proposition to our clients.
  • Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course.
  • Analyze courses to ensure they meet or exceed quality standards,
  • Remain aware of all emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations about when to adopt certain systems to continue to offer the best learning experience possible
  • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training.

Qualifications
You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in English or Communications.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in online curriculum development.
  • Experience with setting up a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with learning management system will be an added advantage

You will need to be:

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to juggle priorities, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Knowledge of instructional design practices and the study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness
  • Ability to align identified tasks and skills to learning objectives that are observable and measurable
  • Creative problem-solver who can develop thoughtful, innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
  • Comfortable operating in new domains with high ambiguity and little direction
  • Robust communication skills (verbal, written), including the ability to present, facilitate, and influence people at different levels in the organization
  • Independent problem solver who will take initiative and execute work
  • Must be deadline-driven, organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively with team members at all levels
