Description

  • The JSI/Nigeria Human Resources and Administration Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated country human resources and administrative functions across all JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc (“JSI”) projects in Nigeria and is a key member of the Country Management Team.
  • This position is responsible for overseeing country office human resource and administrative functions including driving HR strategies, creating a dynamic, inclusive, and productive work environment, ensuring adherence to organizational and donor policies and local statutory requirements and labor laws, and ensuring consistency across all JSI projects.
  • This position will lead recruitment and talent acquisition efforts, employee relations matters, performance management efforts, compliance matters relating to labor law, JSI policies, and donor requirements, and general office administration for staff across JSI operations in Nigeria and its portfolio of projects.
  • JSI/Nigeria is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team and lead the HR and Admin functions effectively. The HR and Admin Manager works under the direct supervision of the JSI/Nigeria Country Operations Director.

Responsibilities
Human Resources Management (70%):

  • Lead and ensure effective full cycle employment efforts including: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, performance management, offboarding, and termination of staff across the JSI/Nigeria portfolio of projects.
  • Provide expert professional HR advice, guidance, and coaching to leaders, managers, and staff on HR issues and serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management.
  • Collaborate with various project leadership to identify staffing needs, ensure alignment with overall strategies, and support succession planning.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent and manage the end-to-end recruitment process – job postings, screenings, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Handle and/or lead employee relations investigations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
  • Implement the performance management process to drive employee engagement and productivity.
  • Ensure the compensation structure is applied consistently across all JSI projects, including review of job descriptions and grading of positions, ensuring internal equity is maintained, and reviewing the economic environment to maintain pay competitiveness.
  • Stay up to date with Nigerian labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance, maintaining and/or building relationships with the labor office. Handle labor relations matter and represent JSI in disputes (as needed)
  • Identify training needs and opportunities within the organization in order to motivate and enhance employee skills and capabilities.
  • Lead the Safeguarding efforts for JSI in Nigeria to ensure adherence and accountability, including training, assessments, service mapping, reporting, etc.
  • Maintain and lead efforts to ensure staff benefits and insurance coverages are in line with JSI standards, market data, and legal requirements
  • Participate in New Business Development efforts which could include drafting job descriptions, recruitment, leading interview panels, salary negotiations and securing commitments
  • Ensure maintenance of employee personnel files, HR templates

Office Administration (30%):

  • Supervise administrative staff and ensure smooth day-to-day office operations, as appropriate.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe and productive work environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional HR certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR Management in a Sr. level role
  • Supervisory experience in an International NGO or local NGO
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Nigerian labor laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity
